Fans of Minecraft have been patiently waiting for the latest update to their favorite game, and it seems that Mojang and Microsoft are ready to unveil the next chapter of adventures in Minecraft. The 1.20 update, titled Minecraft Trails & Tales, will put an emphasis on expression and world-building.
Within the Minecraft 1.20 update, comes a list of features that are bound to add more gameplay challenges for veteran players. Trails & Tales will see a collection of journeys weaved into Minecraft, with some aesthetic additions, and new mobs in Minecraft.
8 Smithing Templates
Smithing Templates are perhaps the most interesting thing to come from the new Minecraft update. These templates can be used to alter the appearance of tools and armor, and to give the player more control over their look when wearing armor. There are a total of eleven smithing templates that can be found from a variety of sources, so players best are ready for adventure.
Not only do these smithing templates show a different look, but they require a fair amount of materials. Whether that’s the useful Redstone, emeralds, or something rarer and more expensive like netherite. Either way, it’s a fascinating addition that will be explored in Trails & Tales.
7 Sniffer Mob
One of the newest mobs in Minecraft is the Sniffer, a passive mob that will dig seeds out of the ground, and loves to sniff anything and anyone, as indicated by the noises from its snout, and the moving nose as it sniffs around. Sniffers could become a great assistant during the best biomes for survival, as they have a great ability to sniff out torchflower seeds.
Sniffers can breed if the player feeds two Sniffers torchflower seeds. The reason they have an adoration for torchflower seeds is that that is what they are hunting for. They will press their noses to the ground in search of these torchflower seeds.
6 Camels
A new rideable mob makes its way to Minecraft with the camel. This passive mob can be found in desert village biomes. It can also be saddled and ridden at fast speeds through the desert. What makes the camel worth finding is the fact that it can seat two players, meaning those Minecraft players with a friend can venture out together without getting lost from one another, which could prove useful for living in the Nether.
A unique behavior that has been seen by the camels is the fact that the rest. Camels can sit down whenever they feel like it, and cannot be pushed back up by players, showing their stubborn side. Camels can also breed if the player feeds them cacti.
5 Cherry Blossom Boimes
The newest biome in Minecraft is the Cherry Grove, a delicate biome in which cherry trees are everywhere. It’s a beautiful location, and brings heart to the community, as Minecraft players have created great biome mods to try, and the Cherry Grove will be for Vanilla players. With pink wood and flowing pink petals all around. Many players may want to move here after visiting, and the wood that can be chopped is worth it for its vibrant and adoring color.
The cherry blossom biome is where players will source the newest tree for pink planks. These decorative and cute blocks can also be used to create a pink boat, which is a rather fetching color from the usual types of brown. Cherry blossoms certainly have an aesthetic that many Minecraft players will enjoy.
4 Bamboo Blocks

Bamboo has been in Minecraft for several years at this point. Its most common use is feeding giant pandas and creating scaffolding to help with building. However, Minecraft 1.20 sees a new use for bamboo, as players will be able to create bamboo blocks and other materials with bamboo.
These visual changes will allow players to have a new color of the block, and a new variant of wood to play around with. Considering how tall bamboo can grow, it seems that obtaining this block will not take a lot of time at all.
3 Pottery
A new ornamental block has been added to the new Minecraft update, and pottery takes center stage. The decorated pots may only be to make things look pretty, but to obtain them is an adventure in itself. Players will need to collect pottery shards, which can only be obtained from the new block of suspicious sand, using the new tool the brush.
Perhaps more uses of suspicious sand and the brush are yet to materialize, but what is known for now is that pottery can be created by using this new tool in Minecraft on the new block, for a chance of obtaining pottery shards. Maybe this is the first step to discovering fossils in the future of Minecraft.
2 Hanging Signs
Signs have a limited number of uses and are often reserved for decoration or important information placed by different players. The newest Minecraft update will feature an improved variant of signs, as players will now be able to place hanging signs, which can be placed in 3 different ways. Although these hanging signs are not one of the rarest items in Minecraft, they're a welcome addition nonetheless.
Hanging signs can be used on the bottom of a block, the side of a block, and on top, creating an interesting decorative display for signs, that will blow gently in the wind. To craft hanging signs, players will need 6 stripped logs and 2 chains.
1 Piglin Head

A rare item in Minecraft is a head or skull. Players can obtain a certain number of heads in the game, each featuring their bonuses for the mob being worn. Whether it’s a creeper, skeleton, wither skeleton, player, zombie, creeper, or ender dragon head. However, the latest to join the fray is the piglin head.
The piglin head is a welcome addition, as the mob is rather hostile when it comes to the player not wearing gold. Being overrun by Piglins could cause the breakable weapons in Minecraft to cause death. Hopefully, with this new piglin head, the player can disguise themselves as one of their own in the Nether, and go about their adventures in peace.
