Thus far, Minecraft has added a lot of content based on many separate franchises, including Star Wars, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Halo, and more. In tandem with the recent release of the highly-anticipated Toy Story 4, a new add-on known as the Toy Story Mash-Up has been made available to download.

The fourth movie in the popular Toy Story franchise by Pixar, beloved by many for its witty writing and engaging performances, was released on Friday to wide acclaim. By many accounts, Toy Story 4 is set to be the final movie in the franchise which adds a lot of weight to its drawing narrative. In celebration of the movie and the franchise altogether, the development team behind Minecraft has released a Toy Story Mash-Up add-on which brings a large quantity of themed content from the Toy Story series.

Minecraft developer Mojang's Kelsey Howard wrote a brief post describing the content available in the mash-up. First, a variety of Toy Story skins will be added via this mash-up, including those of Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Bo Peep, as well as characters from the most recent film like Keanu Reeves' Duke Caboom and Key and Peele's Ducky and Bunny.

Secondly, Howard explains that new locations have been added with the Toy Story Mash-Up, including familiar places like Andy's Room, Al's Toy Barn, Toy Story 3's Sunnyside Daycare, and Toy Story 4's Second Chance Antiques Store. Howard explains players are "indeed tiny, which means you’ll have to climb, jump, and solve puzzles to find your way through an enormous, yet familiar world!"

This seems to be a wise move by Mojang. By blending two popular franchises, which likely share somewhat similar audiences, players are drawn further into the world of Minecraft. The opportunity to take control of the beloved characters from Toy Story is quite likely appealing to many, as is the chance to traverse the locales of the Toy Story universe as the characters. With Minecraft having sold 176 million copies worldwide, the Toy Story Mash-Up may even attract more players to its open world of endless creative options and referential add-on content.

Minecraft is currently available on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, New Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
