Minecraft is getting another story-based DLC, and this one will take players on an epic adventure across the Star Wars galaxy. Mojang’s block-based survival sandbox title has been a popular staple of gaming since 2011, with many downloadable expansions building upon its already captivating framework being released in the following decade or so. Some of Minecraft’s DLC introduced characters and themes from other popular franchises, with the latest one allowing Dungeons and Dragons fans to play out their favorite campaigns using actual TTRPG mechanics.

Given how prevalent Star Wars has been in the realms of video gaming and pop culture over the years, it should come as no surprise that Minecraft has crossed over with the beloved sci-fi/fantasy franchise in the past. Character skins pulled from the original Star Wars movies and Star Wars: Rebels were introduced way back in 2014, and a full-on Minecraft DLC pack based on both the classic trilogy and The Mandalorian was released in 2020. Even outside of this official Minecraft content, players have recreated famous vehicles and landmarks from the fabled Galaxy Far, Far Away like Boba Fett’s infamous spaceship.

Minecraft Star Wars: Path of the Jedi will be released on November 7 and puts players in the role of an aspiring Jedi Padawan looking to prove themselves as a protector of the galaxy. Players can build their own lightsabers and customize a droid companion to assist them on missions to classic Star Wars worlds like Coruscant and Kamino. Along the way, they will encounter famous Jedi like Yoda and Mace Windu - as well as battle deadly enemies like General Grievous.

When is the Minecraft Star Wars DLC Coming Out?

  • Minecraft Star Wars DLC Release Date: Tuesday, November 7

This upcoming Minecraft DLC comes at a very exciting time for Star Wars gaming fans, with several high-profile titles being released over the past few years. 2022 saw Star Wars join forces with another block-based franchise in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor continued the story of Cal Kestis to great success earlier this year. Things aren’t slowing down anytime soon, as Star Wars: Outlaws looks to give players a Grand Theft Auto-style experience in the Galaxy Far, Far Away next year.

In the meantime, the worlds of Star Wars and Minecraft are coming together once again in Path of the Jedi, an upcoming DLC pack that will take players to blocky versions of iconic Star Wars planets and let them experience life as a budding Jedi Padawan during the age of the Clone Wars. Minecraft Star Wars: Path of the Jedi requires the latest version of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition across all current gaming systems. Players can also head to the Dressing Room for a free R2-D2-themed avatar shirt from now until December 7.

Minecraft is available now for mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and legacy platforms.
