As Mojang continues to add new features and items to Minecraft, certain additions could improve the game in more ways than one. With the Wild Update, for example, Mojang added in Ancient Cities, which included blocks that could be used to improve certain Redstone builds. With this in mind, the newest Minecraft mob, the Sniffer, and their eggs could lead to a ton of new unique loot located within various Overworld structures.

Minecraft’s Overworld is filled with structures that generate little to no loot inside, which also means that players are not encouraged to search for them. Structures such as Pillager Outposts and Jungle Temples have some loot, but lack exclusive items, while others such as Desert Wells contain no loot at all. With Sniffer eggs bringing unique loot to Ocean Ruins, Mojang could include more unique loot within other Overworld structures, which would encourage players to seek all of them them out and could also lead to new unique mobs being included in the game.

Pillager Outposts Should Give Players Weapons

Pillager Outposts are arguably the most dangerous structures in Minecraft’s Overworld as they are filled with hordes of pillagers, all equipped to kill the player. While Minecraft recently added Allays to these structures, there are not a lot of options in terms of loot. In most Pillager Outposts, there is a single chest at the top of the tower that can give players certain valuable items such as enchanted books, but little else that makes it worthwhile to raid one of these structures.

Since these outposts seem to be locations from which Pillagers mount assaults on villages, they should be stocked with various types of weapons, including shields and armor. This would make finding a Pillager Outpost much more worthwhile as players could be guaranteed to get some kind of weapon or armor. Further, a new weapon type introduced in a future update could be only found within these structures to force players to seek them out.

Desert Wells Should Have Wood and Saplings

Minecraft Desert Well

Minecraft’s next update will introduce camels, a mount mob that will likely only spawn in the desert biome. The introduction to the camel mob during Minecraft Live 2022 may have also hinted at a much larger desert biome update coming in the near future which could add new structures, features, items, and even desert types to the game. Yet, with all that can still be done in the game, there is one desert structure that still need some loot: the Desert Well.

Desert Wells can be found scattered across the desert biome in Minecraft, and unfortunately, they provide nothing to players aside from a water source block. Mojang should consider adding items such as grass or dirt blocks, saplings, and seeds to make farming in the desert easier. Wells could host new desert-specific plants such as special types of cactus and even palm trees. Further, if Minecraft does add other desert locations such as an oasis, these structures could contain maps that hint at the location of new desert types.

Swamp Huts Need More Loot

Swamp Huts in Minecraft are fairly rare and in some cases dangerous, especially if there is a witch around, but seeking these structures out does not give players much valuable loot. In Bedrock Edition, there is a small chance that the cauldron located inside the hut will have a potion for Minecraft players to collect using glass bottles. However, since potions can readily be made by players, Minecraft could still add some special loot to these Swamp Huts, making them hotspots for players just starting out in the game.

The swamp biome recently received mangrove trees and frogs, while Minecraft update 1.20 is bringing in rafts that would be a perfect way to navigate through the swamps. However, adding in a few more swamp or witch-specific items such as rare potions or mob eggs to the Swamp Hut could entice players to seek them out. Swamp Huts are currently heavily underutilized, and the lack of loot means that players do not really have a need to enter the swamps altogether.

As Minecraft continues to grow, Mojang needs to ensure that each of the biomes in the Overworld has something that the player will need or simply enjoy. One of the best ways of encouraging exploration in the game would be to give players that do so a reward in the form of loot within the many structures that spawn into the world. With Minecraft biome updates, Mojang needs to ensure that it does not forget to add something new to the existing structures to make the player's life a little easier.

Minecraft is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
