A Minecraft fan has pointed out that the Sculk blocks can accurately be used as a starry sky in building ceilings. There are many blocks that Minecraft players can use in their builds, but this may be the best way to feel like stars are shining down on them.
The Deep Dark and Ancient Cities were added with Minecraft's The Wild 1.19 update, which was released in 2023. Like many patches, this one also included new blocks like Mangrove Tree, Mud, Froglights, and Sculk. As this update had a key focus on the Deep Dark, the Sculk Sensors, Catalyst, and Shriekers were also added, making 1.19 full of fresh additions. With the Deep Dark and Ancient Cities full of Sculk blocks, some players have an abundance of them, but don't have a use for the material. One gamer has an idea of implementing this block into the ceiling of their builds to add stars to their ceiling.

Reddit user W1thurYT recently shared two images of their Minecraft map room build. The map room includes Barrels, Bookshelves, Lanterns, Stripped Oak, Oak Fences, Sandstone and Oak Slabs, and Sculk Blocks in the ceiling. The Reddit user illustrates that the Sculk ceiling looks like stars, with many small blue dots visible from the darkness of the rest of the block. Minecraft's Sculk doesn't have a light level, but the patterns of dots glow in the block to create this effect. The Sculk formation lines up with the map below, making it appear like a world with stars in the sky above. While this gamer has used Sculk for their map room's ceiling, it may be applied to other designs.
How Can Minecraft Players Acquire Sculk?
Some mods improve Minecraft's lighting, which could optimize the Sculk's resemblance to stars, making this concept applicable beyond the base version of the game. For players to acquire Sculk, they must locate a Minecraft Deep Dark area, but avoid dangerous blocks like Shriekers and Catalysts. A Pickaxe or Hoe with the Silk Touch enchantment is required to acquire the blocks. These tools can also be used to collect the more dangerous blocks in the Deep Dark, but if a Sensor alerts a Shrieker, the Warden may be summoned. Once the Warden is summoned, players must maintain 16 blocks of distance to avoid a potentially instant kill.
As Mojang continues to update Minecraft, there may be better uses for Sculk in the future. The latest patch also expanded the potential for Tuff and Copper, potentially opening the door for an update that expands what's possible with Sculk.
