A Minecraft player created an intricate maze that is a thousand blocks wide and a thousand blocks long, giving it an area of a million blocks. The creator explained how long it took them to create the impressive creation.

Although it released over a decade ago, Minecraft remains as one of the most-played games across all platforms. Minecraft has earned its place as one of the century's most popular titles by giving players the ultimate freedom to create whatever they can imagine. While some Minecraft users utilize this freedom to create massive snow globes or recreate works of art from the real world, this player decided to make the ultimate maze.

Minecraft Player Discovers How to Decorate Ghasts

A Minecraft player decorates the game's usually hostile ghast mob character with accessories and clothes using a few clever tricks.

Reddit user Cadestine posted a video to the Minecraft subreddit that shows an overview of their massive creation. The maze sports a variety of patterns, and takes Cadestine nearly a full minute to fly across. The gigantic labyrinth is three blocks high, has nine possible exits, and gives players six classes to choose from. At least one section of the maze pits the player against enemy mobs. In the post's comment section, Cadestine explained that it took nearly three years of on-and-off work to complete the maze, with many users praising them for their dedication. However, the Minecraft maze isn't completely done yet, as Cadestine is still putting the finishing touches on the labyrinth's redstone features. But once it's finished, it seems likely that the user will make their map available for download.

It's hard to imagine how many hours it took to conceptualize and create this huge maze all on their own, but it's safe to say that Cadestine is probably excited about approaching the finish line for their ambitious project. Much of Minecraft's creative magic lies in its redstone, a resource that allows players to create complex, automated contraptions through methods that are similar to a basic coding language.

It seems that the creative power that lies within Minecraft has caught the attention of policymakers within the United States. Recently, the US Department of Education approved a $4 million grant for a new program that will use Minecraft's Education Edition and its redstone features to teach computer science to underrepresented middle schoolers in New York and California. The program is expected to enhance academic achievement and improve attendance ratings, and will hopefully encourage students to utilize Minecraft's creative tools.

Innovative and interesting creations within the game are a regular occurrence, like this grand mob farm created in Minecraft recently. This player created a highly detailed, castle-like design that is still a fully functional mob farm, demonstrating the artistic ability of the Minecraft community.
