It's not out of the ordinary for a fan of Minecraft to spend hundreds or even thousands of hours in the game. A Minecraft Redstone expert makes a working version of a rhythm mini-game akin to Guitar Hero using a massive and elaborate build.

Reddit user connyduck shared images of both their Minecraft world's base and the oil painting they based off of it. The base itself is incredibly impressive, with a large fortress making up the majority of it. The many spires and towers of the base give it an almost intimidating experience, and the intricate work must have taken quite some time to build. In the oil painted version, the world takes on a slightly less blocky quality while otherwise maintaining the look and feel of the screenshot. Clever touches include a rendering of the horse seen in the screenshot, which is now a unicorn, and a Creeper peeking in from beneath a tree.

Numerous fans were impressed with the oil painting, with some expressing envy of the artist's skill, while others seemed to be taking inspiration from it. According to connyduck, the art took them ten days to create with a few hours dedicated to the project each time. It might surprise some fans that it took a relatively short period of time to illustrate it, but the artist has a long history of artworks in their profile, so this is far from their first painting effort.

Survival mode can make building and maintaining builds more difficult, as they're subject to potential problems like Creepers appearing and exploding a player's hard work. Accordingly, fans in the comments were stunned by the idea that the massive fortress build was on a survival world. However, Connyduck noted that they'd been playing the same survival world for years, nearly as long as the game has been available.

Minecraft players find wonderful ways to build tributes to their favorite things. While many fans make buildings and art in-game based upon other titles, others end up paying tribute to Minecraft itself with real-world art like this. All these years after its launch, Minecraft doesn't look to be loosening its grip on creative and artistic fans anytime soon.
