Minecraft has revealed that the armadillo is the second mob vote option available for Minecraft Live 2023. Before the anticipated event, Mojang has started announcing the new mobs that players can vote for to be added to Minecraft in a future update.

While Minecraft initially only included a few mobs, the game’s roster of creatures has expanded drastically over the years. Through new updates, Mojang has introduced new mobs for players to discover in the blocky worlds of Minecraft. Most recently, the developer introduced the camel and sniffer in the Trails and Tales Update in June 2023. Now, fans will soon have the opportunity to choose what mob they want to see added to the game next.

On October 4, Minecraft revealed the armadillo as the second mob players could vote for to be included in the game. Revealed in an announcement video, the mob has a brown-colored box-like appearance and features a head similar to the real-life animal. According to the developer, the armadillo can be found in the savanna biome in Minecraft and rolls into a “blocky ball” when frightened.

While the cute appearance of the armadillo might be a compelling enough reason for some fans to vote for the mob, it also drops a useful material. Known as scute, this material allows Minecraft players to craft wolf armor, something new for the game. As the name suggests, this new craftable item would help fortify a player’s pets from attacks against hostile mobs encountered in the wilderness.

It is worth pointing out that the armadillo is facing stiff competition this year. In addition to one still unannounced creature, Mojang has already revealed the crab mob as another mob vote option for the community. For those interested in voting for their favorite mob, they have several options available. The developer noted that players can vote in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. In addition, they can visit the game’s official website or go to the Minecraft Launcher to cast their ballot. Voting will start at 1 p.m. EDT on October 13 and end at 1:15 p.m. on October 15, which leads up to the commencement of Minecraft Live 2023.

In addition to the mob vote, Minecraft Live 2023 promises to include other announcements for fans. While the specifics have not been revealed by Mojang, the event will likely include updates on the future of the franchise, such as possible details about upcoming content for the base game. Regardless, the results of the mob vote should make the event an interesting watch, at the very least.
