The upcoming Minecraft Legends is understandably piquing the curiosity of many fans within the massively successful sandbox franchise. Being set to provide a real-time action strategy twist to the Minecraft formula, it is clear that the upcoming title could be a new space for truly unique content, and fans are looking towards the upcoming 2022 mob vote to potentially bolster the hit franchise.

With the upcoming vote seeing two mobs be excluded from main-game inclusion, other franchise titles like Minecraft Legends could showcase them instead. Considering that there will be eight discarded mobs to choose from following the 2022 vote, the range of utility that they could provide to Legends' gameplay could be invaluable, and a fantastic way to satiate a huge collection of the Minecraft fan base.

Minecraft's 2022 Mob Vote

Players will vote on the next mob to join Minecraft at the live event.

Originating in 2017, Minecraft holds a community-wide vote on a somewhat annual basis to decide which in-game mob out of three potential options will be added to the game. While these three mobs usually contain the same overarching themes, they each offer unique roles and facets of gameplay, leading to healthy conflict and debate among fans.

The mob vote is seen by many as a fantastic way to allow fans to have a direct and tangible influence on the title while simultaneously boosting a sense of community and excitement. With the now well-known mobs of the Glow Squid, Phantom, and Allay being introduced to Minecraft as mob vote winners, the sway and importance of the contest speaks for itself.

The Minecraft mob vote for 2022 is set to get underway very soon, with the results being announced at the upcoming Minecraft Live on October 15. The mobs in contention for this year's vote are the Sniffer, Rascal, and Tuff Golem, with the mobs offering boosts to horticulture, mining, and item display respectively.

How Minecraft Mob Vote Losers Could Be Used in Minecraft Legends

The interesting additions that each Minecraft mob vote provides always means that many fans are left feeling shunned and saddened if their mob of choice loses. Due to this, many fans have called for runner-up votes to be held made entirely out of previous losing mobs, but the upcoming Minecraft Legends could provide an even more sensible solution.

Minecraft Legends is an upcoming real-time strategy title that is set to feature a sprawling and populated third-person portrayal of Minecraft's overworld and Nether Realm biomes. The basis of the game's story is that the player must unite the passive and hostile mobs of the overworld against invading Piglin forces sent from the Nether, which will foster a need for a wide range of unique mobs for the player to use strategically in combat and beyond.

Some past losers of mob votes have indeed appeared in the other popular franchise spinoff, Minecraft Dungeons, which provided an addictive dungeon-crawler twist on the Minecraft world. While this played a more reserved role in Dungeons, mobs are essential within Legends' core gameplay. As units that can be leveraged by the player, the return of past losing figures would be a very sensible decision.

These returning mobs could even take the form of enemies, with some past losing hostile mobs being easily translated to a Nether context to fit the game's narrative. Allowing past losing mobs to return to the forefront of the franchise by making purposeful appearances in Minecraft Legends would be a fantastic way to make such demanded appearances, while also fostering an environment where Minecraft itself is not overly saturated by an abundance of mobs that did not make the cut in the past.

Minecraft Legends releases in 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
