Minecraft Legends tells the story of a brave adventurer's quest to purge the Overworld of the Piglins invading it and restore peace to the once trouble-free land. At the beginning of the story, the protagonist will be forced to destroy Piglin Outposts in order to progress the story. Once enough bases have been taken down, bigger threats will emerge from the Nether to wreak even more havoc.

The Devourer is one of the main bosses in Minecraft Legends, and it definitely lives up to its title. Defeating this beast requires players to adopt a different approach to how they usually infiltrate Piglin bases, especially because of how much the Devourer likes to move around.

When To Fight The Devourer In Minecraft Legends

The Devourer in Minecraft Legends

Like all bosses in Minecraft Legends, the Devourer will not appear until certain requirements have been fulfilled. This entails destroying the three Piglin Outposts at the beginning of the game and then destroying the ten Nether portal fortresses that appear afterward. Once these objectives have been completed, a cutscene in which the Devourer emerges from the Nether portal will play, making it possible for players to confront it.

The Devourer location in Minecraft Legends

To find the Devourer and the base in which it resides, players will need to examine the world map until they spot a large mint-green section with a Nether portal at the center. Hovering the cursor over the portal will prompt an information box to appear, detailing the Devourer's full title and location.

To begin the battle, all players need to do is travel to the location depicted on the map, where they will be faced with a large Piglin base full of tall towers.

The Best Mobs To Use Against The Devourer

The Cobblestone Golem Spawner in Minecraft Legends

Since the Devourer is quite fond of using poison-based attacks, bringing Zombies to fight it can be a huge help, as poison will not affect them. Plank Golems and Skeletons should be used to dish out damage to the beast from afar and also as a means of defeating any other nearby Piglins. Cobblestone Golems can be used to bring down any dangerous structures in the base that the player thinks might affect how the battle plays out.

Creepers can also be used to deal some serious damage to the Devourer, but once they have attacked, they will no longer be able to aid in the battle, so it might be best for players to preserve them until they are ready to deal the final blows.

On top of these allies, players should ensure to bring several Mossy Golems, as the water they produce has some pretty useful healing abilities. The more Mossy Golems present, the more the protagonist will be healed.

How To Reach The Devourer In Minecraft Legends

Players will have already faced Piglin bases that look like this, but the Devourer's presence will make scaling the Netherrack structures there much more difficult due to the projectiles it throws. Avoiding these projectiles isn't too difficult, however, so long as the protagonist remains at a safe distance and is ready to move when the Devourer begins firing.

Building ramps in Minecraft Legends

To reach the Devourer, the player will need to build ramps to reach the platforms leading to the top of the base. The Devourer will jump to different platforms during this fight, so players will need to build more bridges in order to follow it. Because of this, players should ensure they have brought as much Wood as possible, as though building Ramps isn't that expensive, the Piglins and Warboars in this area will likely break any they find.

If players are struggling to place ramps while infiltrating this Piglin base, they should acquire the Big Beak mount . This mount can glide across narrow crevices and onto different platforms, granting the player better locations to place bridges.

Building ramps and bridges to reach the Devourer will take up most of the battle, so players will likely end up having to destroy several Piglin structures while doing so. Placing Protector Towers can be especially helpful during these instances, as they will allow golems and mobs to smash through whatever structure they are commanded to without getting struck by incoming bolts.

In order to place structures like this in Piglin strongholds, the player will first need to have placed the Improvement: Cure Netherrack Melody at the Well of Fate. If this has been done, the protagonist can command their Allays to remove Netherrack by selecting the area they want to cure. When the area selected is free of Netherrack, the player will be able to build on it.

How To Defeat The Devourer In Minecraft Legends

The Devourer has a lot of health, so it might take some time to bring it down, especially if it is being aided by nearby Piglin defenses. To make the battle easier, players should destroy the structures on top of the platform they are fighting the Devourer on. This will lessen the chance of helpful golems and mobs being killed, allowing the player to focus their attention solely on the Devourer.

The Devourer's physical attacks can easily devastate any golems or mobs that happen to be too close, so players should try to keep their allies as far away from the creature as possible. Plank Golems and Skeletons can be used to deal most of the damage from afar, so players won't always need to get up close and personal in order to win the fight.

Arrow Towers can also be extremely effective, especially when placed on platforms the Devourer can't reach. Stationing some Skeletons and Plank Golems on these platforms can also be quite helpful.

When the Devourer is down to 70% health, it will jump to a different platform, forcing players to build ramps to follow.

When the Devourer's health bar reaches 30%, the beast will jump to the central platform with the Nether portal. Like before, players will need to place a ramp to reach this platform in order to continue the fight. Once across, the player will be able to end the battle by dealing a little bit more damage.
