Minecraft is a game that allows its players to build cubic renditions of just about out anything they can think of. Its simple yet versatile building mechanics have meant Minecraft players are able to build incredibly intricate working programs in the game. Some of the most popular things to build in the game are recreations of locations from other popular video games.
Destiny 2’s Forsaken DLC released in 2018 and came with a lot of major additions for the game. While most of the content specific to Destiny 2's Forsaken DLC has been sent to the Destiny Content Vault, the DLC also added the second major raid to Destiny 2 named Last Wish, which is still available to play.
Raids in Destiny 2 are huge missions that take many hours to complete, which makes it all the more impressive that a dedicated Minecraft player has managed to make a to-scale recreation of the Last Wish raid. The Minecraft player named Clan Entropy on YouTube has shared a video showing a side-by-side comparison of the real Destiny 2 raid, and their Minecraft recreation. The build is so huge that it takes a full 11-minute video just to show a whistle-stop comparison of all the raid’s most recognizable areas.
Naturally, the graphical fidelity and a lot of the design details from Destiny 2 are lost in the translation to Minecraft as only a limited number of blocks are available with which to represent Destiny 2’s alien architecture. But what is truly most impressive about Clan Entropy’s Last Wish recreation, is its dedication to scale and layout. Every aspect of the raid, from its open arenas to the hidden areas where players can find loot, has been lovingly recreated. The Last Wish raid is so huge in Destiny 2 that it contains within itself an entire secret side quest.
Scale is not something Minecraft players are often limited on when building in the game, which is why there are countless examples of huge creative undertakings in Minecraft. Many of these have also been recreations of iconic pop-culture locations from either other video games, or film and television. Real world locations have also been built in great detail. Many of these builds grow so large that when the cubic Minecraft blocks begin to blur together and from a wide shot, the projects begin to look like real structures.
Clan Entropy’s Destiny 2 raid is a very admirable recreation and will be best appreciated by players that are already intimately familiar with the Last Wish’s layout in Destiny 2.
