Minecraft 1.21's Crafter Block Points to Some Logical Next Steps

Minecraft's upcoming 1.21 update is set to boost automation with the Crafter block, opening the floodgates for a lot of new content down the line.

It was first announced at Minecraft Live 2023, capturing the interest of the community. Automated crafting has been the topic of debate for many years, as several other processes in the game have already been streamlined. With the addition of the Hopper and the Dropper working seamlessly with the Furnace, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before the Crafting Table got its own upgrade.

Size & Uses

The Crafter doesn't have a huge amount of storage, giving players only 9 slots of inventory space for ingredients. There is also the option to disable certain slots for specific crafting recipes so that no other items can be placed in them.

Powered by Redstone, this machine can be used with both Hoppers and Droppers. It's also interesting to note that Hoppers can also remove ingredients from The Crafter. Every single side of it can be interacted with, giving it maximum efficiency.

When The Crafter is activated, it will use the ingredients in its inventory and place the crafted item in any storage components next to it. If there are no storage options, it will simply spit the item out along with any byproducts, such as empty bottles and buckets.
