One Minecraft player stumbled upon something very unusual in their game world: a non-hostile enemy mob character. The bizarre yet wholesome encounter was shared online, leading to other players to wish for a mode in the title that featured friendly versions of its usually aggressive creatures.

Mojang Studios' popular sandbox experience Minecraft is the home to a variety of mob types that are either passive, neutral, or hostile toward players. While neutral mobs will not always exhibit antagonistic behavior, hostile mobs are guaranteed to attack any players they spot. Among the game's many hostile mobs is the Skeleton, an undead entity that uses a bow and arrow to hit from a distance. It seems like not all Skeletons desire conflict as one Minecraft player found a special example that acted rather peacefully around them.

Minecraft Player Creates Ridiculously Big and Intricate Maze

A Minecraft player creates an utterly gigantic maze, showcasing the wide range of creations that the Minecraft community is capable of.

In a recent video posted on the Minecraft subreddit, user Aussiedudeonreddit showed off the friendly Skeleton just minding their business in a body of water, even as the player was well within striking distance. While not considered to be among the strongest mob characters in Minecraft, Skeletons are still dangerous and they can easily end a careless player's survival streak. It is no surprise then that some community members were surprised by Aussiedudeonreddit's encounter, and others just found it amusing. "He is just going for a little swim," one commenter wrote.

Replying to Aussiedudeonreddit's post, another user revealed that they wished Minecraft had a difficulty between Peaceful and Easy that included non-hostile versions of enemy mobs. Minecraft's Peaceful difficulty removes all hostile entities, while Easy mode will spawn enemies that are significantly weaker. Only the most daring of players try out Minecraft's punishing Hardcore Survival mode, which offers a harsher game experience that only affords a single life.

Minecraft offers its players nearly endless creative freedom, and some have used that to find ways to peacefully interact with hostile mob characters. For instance, one Minecraft player learned how to decorate ghasts, the large ghost-like enemies that shoot explosive fireballs, using minecarts and transparent blocks.

The Microsoft-published title, of course, has easier methods of mob interaction that do not require its players to use any workarounds. As an official built-in feature, Minecraft players can actually tame several types of mobs, including Cats, Wolves, and even Skeleton Horses, among many others. Minecraft players can also interact with Villagers, the passive mobs with various profession types that are open to trade using Emeralds.
