Highlights

  • Only 50.84% of Minecraft players have unlocked the achievement for opening the inventory, which may suggest that it is not a priority for some players.
  • Activating cheats in Minecraft Bedrock Edition disables the ability to unlock achievements, preventing players from earning them easily through cheating.
  • The low percentage of players who have unlocked the Taking Inventory achievement may indicate a significant number of players who have used cheats in the game.

A Minecraft fan has pointed out that only 50% of players have unlocked the achievement for opening the inventory. Because Minecraft Bedrock Edition has 125 achievements to unlock, some players don't have all of them, but this one may be the most unexpected omission.

Although Minecraft Java Edition doesn't feature Xbox-like achievements, every Bedrock account tracks progression this way. These Minecraft Bedrock achievements may include crafting the first item, acquiring wood, and defeating an enemy. Depending on what is required for a Minecraft milestone, players may unlock some achievements before others. Achievements like Free the End, Good Luck, and Remote Getaway won't be possible until later in the game. Pointing to one of the easiest Minecraft Bedrock Edition achievements, a fan has highlighted the percentage of players who have accomplished it.

Reddit user Educational-Bug-8369 recently shared a screenshot of their Minecraft achievement called Taking Inventory. This achievement is fittingly unlocked by opening the inventory, making it one of the tasks that Minecraft players may complete early on. According to the Taking Inventory achievement screen, only 50.84% of Minecraft players have unlocked it as of April 3, 2022. Because the Bedrock and Java Minecraft editions track these accomplishments differently, the achievement screen suggests that 49.16% of Bedrock players haven't opened their inventory. While it's only worth 10 achievement points, Taking Inventory may not be a priority for some players, but it may highlight how big the Minecraft cheating community is.

With the Minecraft player base reaching 141 million players in 2021, millions of fans have seemingly missed Taking Inventory. Activating cheats in Minecraft Bedrock Edition allows players to use console commands to change the time of day or teleport around a Seed. Once a Minecraft player has chosen to cheat in Bedrock, unlocking achievements is permanently disabled. Disabling achievements for cheaters prevents players from earning them easily through cheating. In addition, some Minecraft Creative players may not access their inventory as much as Survival players which may contribute to the low achievement numbers.

Because Minecraft offers Java and Steam Achievements, a portion of the community isn't tallied as part of the Taking Inventory statistic. Given that players who simply launched Minecraft once are part of the overall stat, some may have barely played the game before closing it. Though it's currently unclear if all the remaining Minecraft Bedrock Edition players have used cheats, the low Taking Inventory number suggests a good chunk of them are.
