YouTuber PippenFTS is working to re-create Earth in Minecraft at a 1:1 scale, one of the most ambitious projects the game has seen to date. Minecraft would normally feature too many restrictions to perform such a task, but thanks to Terra 1-to-1 and Cubic Chunks, two Minecraft mods, PippenFTS is off to a good start.

The mods allow PippenFTS to pull in data from Google Maps, thus allowing the Earth's surface to be converted into the game, and removes the height restrictions typically in place, allowing for a true recreation of the Earth. However, that only covers the Earth's natural geography, and not man-made structures.

To combat the lack of man-made architecture throughout the world, PippenFTS is creating Build the Earth, a network of players working to recreate the world with buildings and cities included. It's an incredibly ambitious undertaking, and one that will undoubtedly take years to complete if seen through. Smaller projects have seen Hogwarts recreated, but nothing to this scale.

PippenFTS will be kicking off the project by recreating a scale model of Seattle. The YouTuber called on others to rally to the cause, calling it a "world to end all worlds" and laying the first brick in the video. Hopefully, PippenFTS is able to accomplish this goal, as a recreation of the Earth would be amazing to see.

Minecraft is available now.
