Minecraft players have quite a lot of content to play with. Between the game's rather frequent updates and improvements, the sprawling Minecraft Marketplace filled with work from dedicated creators, and official crossover maps, it would be a tall task for any player to try all of it. Yet, despite just how much there is to discover and try, Mojang and its partners don't seem to be slowing down on these updates anytime soon.

This is especially true when it comes to the amount of crossover content made in partnership with other companies. Just recently a new Sonic the Hedgehog texture pack was released, and other franchises are widely represented on the marketplace, from the large expansive Star Wars universe to even the unexpected properties such as the recently released Frozen Planet 2 documentary by BBC Earth. DreamWorks Animation should follow the other companies and bring its latest hit film to Minecraft.

Why Puss in Boots: The Last Wish Should Come to Minecraft

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was a surprising entry to the long-standing Shrek franchise that side-lined the series' usual comedic nature to tell a moving, action-packed story about the value of one's life and how fear shouldn't control someone from living. Taking a ton of notes from the widely successful Into the Spider-verse by Sony Animation, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is complete eye candy on the animation front as well. This led it to be received so well by viewers and critics alike that it earned the coveted title of being 2022's best animated film.

The Shrek franchise is a symbol of how Dreamworks is not one to sleep on its successes. With how The Last Wish has made its own claim to fame, there are advantages such as merchandising and collaborations that could be used to bring in even more money. Previously, Dreamworks gave the rights of the How to Train Your Dragon series to Gamemode One to bring the series to Minecraft, so Puss in Boots getting the same treatment isn't too far-fetched.

What Puss in Boots Can Bring to Minecraft

Puss in Boots The Last Wish Shrek

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish uses plenty of creativity to tell its story, which leads to plenty of intriguing things that could translate well to Minecraft. For starters, special skins could be added to a DLC package that could allow players to experience the game as Kitty Softpaws, Perrito the Dog, and even Puss in Boots himself. The Dark Forest and the map to the Wishing Star could be made into a Minecraft world, and Death could be a special mob to fight.

On top of that, Puss in Boots could easily bring some old friends along in the form of extra skins for Shrek characters, as that series also hasn't been adapted to Mojang's sandbox game yet. Depending on which Minecraft Marketplace creators tackle the project on behalf of Dreamworks, some Shrek locations and items could be added as well - like a Far Far Away world - to make the DLC pack into one big Shrek tribute as opposed to just content from The Last Wish.

There's plenty to gain from bringing Puss in Boots to Minecraft, for both players and the companies involved. For gamers, being able to re-create all the action from The Last Wish in a game that offers plenty of freedom sounds like quite an adventure, especially for Minecraft players who are bored with everything else. For Mojang, Dreamworks, and Microsoft, there's enough profit in content like that to make it worth looking into.

Minecraft is available on multiple platforms, including PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Android and iOS devices.
