Being one of the biggest gaming IPs in the world, it's hardly surprising that Minecraft is always being tweaked and updated. Just last month, Minecraft was approaching 140 million monthly users, which is a testament to just how successful the game has become since being launched nearly 12 years ago. Given the number of active players, many may be interested to hear what two of the game's developers had to say about the new Caves & Cliffs update, which is coming soon.
In a recent video uploaded to YouTube, Mojang employees, Brandon and Nir, discussed some of the details that fans can expect in the newest Minecraft update. The light-hearted video answered a bunch of questions, mostly in relation to the game's creatures, or mobs. One of the update's latest mobs will be, what Nir describes as, "derpy goats," which will be found on the mountains with a rare chance for them to spawn as a "screaming goat." It is advised that players keep hold of these special goats if they find one as they are, apparently, quite useful.
Given that the Caves & Cliffs update is in two parts, there was a question posted which asked where mobs will be spawning until their natural biomes become available in the second part of the patch. For example, while axolotls will be available in part one, they will naturally spawn in "lush caves" which will only be coming out in part two. In this instance, players will still find axolotl's in the world in underground lakes, with a little additional section of the video talking about who would win in a fight: an axolotl or a drowned zombie.
On top of this, one of Minecraft's other mobs will be the glow squid which was voted for by the community late last year. Similar to the axolotls, glow squids will spawn underground in places like lakes. The one thing Nir and Brandon did confirm is that the warden would not be coming to part one, with Brandon stating that the reason is that they reside in the "deep dark" which is expected in part two.
Released in 2011, Minecraft continues to be something of a gaming juggernaut with reports indicating that it had sold more than 200 million copies last May making it one of the best-selling games of all time. While there is no exact date for the Caves & Cliffs update, part one is expected to be out in summer 2021, with no official word yet when part two will come out.
