The world of Minecraft is one replete with the potential for creative ways of playing, with its vast landscape in which just about anything can be constructed. It's the reason why it's one of the most successful IPs in gaming history, especially given that it's a title which has near-infinite replayability. While many may consider the game to be something of a peaceful experience, there are some who like a challenge. One fan in particular has taken it upon themselves to try and beat the game as quickly as possible, giving themselves a significant disadvantage at the start.

User FrozenMelody recently uploaded a video to their YouTube channel which shows them playing, and finishing, Minecraft in just over 30 minutes. The most impressive thing about this video is that they do the entire thing, from start to finish, while blindfolded. Webcam footage in the corner does confirm that they are wearing said blindfold, and the YouTube description states that the only sound they could hear was from the game itself. This means there was no one feeding any information into his headphones during play.

He dedicates the playthrough, which some may refer to as a speedrun given how quickly he gets to the closing credits, to prepping for the rest of the run, allowing moments at the beginning to gather items, somehow trade with villagers, and sleep. Watching the footage, it becomes apparent that FrozenMelody is somehow going to have to kill Minecraft's end boss the Ender Dragon without being able to see. The description says that hundreds of attempts have been made at this, and this final video shows just how much time has gone into perfecting the run.

This is also, according to the video's title, the first ever attempt at completing Minecraft while wearing a blindfold. A similar thing did occur in a different game earlier this year, where a speedrunner completed Super Mario Bros. while blindfolded. Both this player and FrozenMelody show that there are some incredibly unique ways of not only playing and finishing games, but doing so in incredibly quick times. While others have defeated the Ender Dragon much quicker, doing so in half an hour while not being able to see anything is an amazing feat.

Summer Games Done Quick introduced blindfolded runs this year, so it's possible that this is what inspired the user to do their own attempt. Whether or not FrozenMelody will make another attempt for SGDQ remains to be seen, but even on their own YouTube channel, it shows the level of skill, commitment and perhaps muscle memory that has gone into this speedy playthrough.

Minecraft is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
