One of the largest draws to Minecraft for many players is the ability to take whatever they can think of and recreate it with blocks to make pixelated 3D sculptures with in the game. The creation mode that makes it possible to recreate Destiny in Minecraft has become part of the spectacle surrounding the game, and creators like WeAreSteve are certainly able to make the most out of it.
WeAreSteve's latest creation in particular may be one of the most intricate and time-consuming Minecraft builds that the YouTube content creator has made so far. Normally taking the creation process frame by frame with timelapse videos of creating, the YouTuber decided on a different approach when looking at bringing Avatar: The Last Airbender into the indie legend.
In a twist on the usual content on the WeAreSteve channel, this video uses stop animation of multiple builds in order to recreate the beginning shots for the Avatar intro sequence. With Katara's familiar vocals overlaid on top of the transitioning images, the recreation is stunning, especially when looking at the work that went into building each frame of the animation. Granted, considering how massively popular anything Avatar is online, the video is certainly a crowd-pleaser for mashing up two of the internet's most beloved franchises.
The quick video, while impressive, only shows off the final products of each of WeAreSteves builds for a few seconds before moving along with the next part of the clip. Many of the other videos on the channel go into slightly more detail on how the expert Minecraft builds come together by timelapsing through the creation process itself. In that case, however, anyone looking to see the making of the clip can find a process video on the same channel, giving viewers quite a bit of content to look through, from these quick clips to several minute semi-tutorials.
Looking at the way that Minecraft's building mechanics resonate with so many players, it isn't surprise that the game has spawned so many content creators like WeAreSteve to test their skills in what has evolved into a massive 3D art-box. This creator specifically goes above and beyond with massive structures that take what would ordinarily limitations of the game's blocky art-style to make incredible pieces for these videos. There are plenty of players online who make similar creations, and there really is no limit to what players can do inside of Minecraft, so hopefully WeAreSteve and others will have more to show fans in the future.
