How to Craft Wolf Armor in Minecraft 1.21
Along with the new update, Mojang introduced a new mob that won the Minecraft Live Mob Vote, Armadillo. This mob is precisely what we need for crafting armor for your four-legged friend. So, to craft Wolf Armor, you have to follow these steps:
Craft Two Brushes
First, you need to craft 2 Brushes. To accomplish this, you will need the following resources:
- 2 Feathers
- 2 Sticks
- 2 Copper Ingots
When you have collected the resources, go to the Crafting Table and lay out the items as shown in the screenshot above.
Go to Savanna Biome
Next, you have to find the Savanna biome. If you have difficulty with this and you play with cheats, you can use the following command:
- /locate biome minecraft:savanna_plateau
Thereafter, the coordinates of the nearest Savannah will appear in the chat, and you will only have to click on them to teleport.
Find Armadillo
Next, you will need to find a new mob — Armadillo. They usually spawn in groups, but only in the Savanna, so be attentive.
Collect Six Armadillo Scute
The next step is to collect Armadillo Scute. There are two ways to collect this item:
- Armadillo, like Chicken, drops 1 Armadillo Scute every 5–10 minutes.
- Collect Armadillo Scute simply by using the Brush.
It will be much more efficient to use a Brush. But keep in mind that 1 Brush is only enough for 4–5 scutes. But if you craft 2 Brushes, you won't have any problems for sure.
Furthermore, if you like to build farms, you should know that this process can be automated with Dispenser, although it doesn't make much sense, since Wolf Armor has no durability, in other words, it is unbreakable.

And finally, you can return to the Crafting Bench and make Wolf Armor using the crafting book or simply lay out the items as shown in the screenshot above.
How to Use Wolf Armor in Minecraft 1.21
To use Wolf Armor, simply walk up to your wolf, take the armor in your hand, and interact with your pet. However, the following limitations apply:
- You cannot use the armor on a wolf that has not been tamed.
- Also, you cannot put armor on a wolf that is tamed by another player.
You can only remove the armor with Scissors, which is a rather strange solution. Moreover, the armor falls off the wolf if the latter dies. Keep in mind that this Wolf Armor is based on a new mob that is not yet fully completed, so the developers can change this process with new updates. You cannot dye this armor, and as mentioned above, it is completely unbreakable. This armor gives your wolf 11 points of protection, and with it, you can finally be sure that your pet will survive a creeper explosion or a bigger fall.
