Fans of the Flanaverse were recently relieved to hear that Mike Flanagan's much-awaited The Fall of the House of Usher is still on deck for a Netflix release in 2023.A Netflix series adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's classic 1839 short story of the same name, Fall of the House of Usher, wrapped up production a while ago. The series stars many of the same cast members fans have come to expect in Flanagan's movies, including wife Kate Siegel, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, and Carla Gugino. In recent years, Flanagan, also known for his work on feature films like Doctor Sleep and Oculus, has made a name as a master of the Netflix horror serial, bringing literary adaptations and original works to the popular streaming platform, including The Midnight Club, Midnight Mass, and The Haunting of Hill House. With Flanagan's recent move to Amazon, fans were left curious about the fate of his final endeavor created for Netflix.RELATED: Guillermo del Toro and Mike Flanagan Sit Down To Discuss Their Love of HorrorThe good news comes in comments Flanagan made on a piece in We Got This Covered that suggested Fall of the House of Usher was in danger of being canceled by Netflix. "Happy to report this entire article is nonsense - THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER is right on schedule, we're just finishing delivering it, and it will air on Netflix later this year as planned," Flanagan wrote on Twitter. "We'll announce the date soon. Jeez."

Given Flanagan's move to rival Amazon and Netflix's reported plans to cut spending by 300 million in 2023, fan fears were not entirely unfounded. Several other Netflix series have been on the chopping block, including 1899 and the live-action Resident Evil series. Add in competition from a steady flow of other streaming options and audience disgruntlement with price raises and new regulations on sharing log-ins that may hurt them more, and fans have reason to be concerned.

Flanagan's response is a comfort to fans of both the Flanaverse and Poe, who have been eagerly waiting for the release of the limited series, which officially wrapped up filming in the summer of 2022 with four episodes. In addition to following the plot of Poe's original story, the series also incorporates other Poe works (similar to what Flanagan has done in the past with The Haunting of Bly Manor), centering itself in a spooky countryside manor with several disturbing secrets.

The Fall of the House of Usher's release date has not yet been announced, but it is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2023.
