Venom has officially been revealed as the next piece of DLC content for Marvel’s Midnight Suns, coming February 23. Developed by Firaxis, Midnight Suns takes a different approach to superhero combat. It’s a card-based tactics game where actions are determined by the luck of the draw and the creative ways players use their hands to set up clever yet devastating attacks later down the line. And it’s got a robust interactive narrative system to boot.Midnight Suns was met with praise from critics, but that praise didn’t translate into sales. It is published by Take-Two Interactive, whose CEO, Srauss Zelnick, recently called Midnight Suns a “commercial flop.” He went on to say that he hopes Midnight Suns will have the same tail as Firaxis’ other series, XCOM and Civilization, meaning both games have sold more copies in the long-run thanks to positive word-of-mouth.RELATED: Marvel’s Midnight Suns and XCOM Franchise Producer Leaves FiraxisThe Redemption DLC, which is slated to release on February 23, will give Midnight Suns players the chance to add fan-favorite Spider-Man villain Venom to their team, as the classic nemesis finally joins the roster of Marvel characters as a recruitable hero. In comics lore, Eddie Brock was a journalist and Peter Parker’s rival. After coming in contact with a sentient inky black alien goo called a Symbiote, Eddie and the Symbiote bond into a single malevolent entity that calls itself Venom. In the Redemption DLC, Eddie will try to atone for his actions as Venom while he was under the thrall of Lilith, the primary villain of Marvel’s Midnight Suns, during the base game’s main campaign.

The DLC includes 10 Hero abilities, a slew of new cosmetics, and three new story missions that stack even more story to the enormous amount of narrative content in the base game. The DLC also includes an Abbey Upgrade, which adds an area called the Whisper Web to the communal superhero hangout area. All new content will be instantly available to all Marvel’s Midnight Suns Season Pass holders.
