As players explore the Abbey in Marvel's Midnight Suns, they'll eventually stumble across a few recipe books scattered around the game world. This guide will explain how to make use of these recipe books, which can prove invaluable when facing off against the forces of Lilith and Hydra.
Marvel's Midnight Suns tasks players with uncovering the location of four Elemental Rods that were scattered around the Abbey quite early in the game, and this can prove quite a tricky task if players don't know where to look (though Agatha's hints will help here) but it is necessary in order to find a use for the recipe books.
Unlocking Agatha's Cauldron
Before any of the recipe books can be used, players will need to gain the use of Agatha's Cauldron, but she doesn't task the player with getting it working until the Elemental Rods have been recovered. Once all four Elemental Rods are returned to Agatha's Altar, she'll suggest getting the Cauldron going in a conversation in the library (this can sometimes take a day or two before the dialog triggers).
Agatha supplies the Hunter with a special vessel that can contain an ember from the possessed forge downstairs and informs them that they'll have to find their way into the old tunnels beneath the Abbey to locate an ember of the Forge that can light her Cauldron. This proves fairly straightforward as the game provides players with a waypoint to follow that guides them close to the entry point. Look around by the waypoint for a path that can be opened with the Word of Power "OPEN" and head down the ladder beyond it into the cave. Interact with the flame to snag an ember for the Cauldron, and bring it back to Agatha.
Crafting With The Cauldron
Now that Agatha has her Cauldron lit, the Hunter can use those recipe books they've found to create a number of useful items. With the right recipe, players can craft powerful single-use combat items, new cosmetics, and gifts for boosting friendship points with the other Heroes. Recipe books are scattered all over the Abbey, and players will stumble into them all over the place while taking Agatha's advice and exploring the Abbey Grounds.
Ingredients for crafting are also found all over the Abbey Grounds, in the form of various plants and essences which can be collected with a button press, and these are also used for Club hangouts and other crafting methods, making them well worth the time spent gathering. The first Recipe Book is also right next to the Cauldron after completing the Quest, making getting started even simpler.
