Despite Orcs being the most common enemy to be found and fought in Middle-earth: Shadow Of War, their purpose isn’t only to dull the sword of the player. Middle-earth: Shadow Of War has a feature in which players can dominate and tame their army of orcs to battle Sauron, and take the final blow to Mordor.

There are many different forms of Orcs in Middle-earth: Shadow Of War. Orcs can range from simple Grunts to Legendary Captains. The many different types of Orcs may confuse players on whom they should recruit in Middle-earth: Shadow Of War, and what are the best Orcs in Middle-earth: Shadow Of War.

8 Assassin

One of the best of the Advanced Class of Orcs is the Assassin. As lethal killers, Assassins won’t take to their target head-on, but will instead prefer to ambush them and take them out quickly and quietly. An efficient kill is a specialty of Assassin Orcs and one that is of great use to Talion in killing other Orc captains.

Assassins specialize in ambushing their targets. They primarily focus on dodging and vaulting, making it hard for other Orcs and Talion to capture and kill them for good. Utilizing an Assassin is a good way to create a powerful army without the other Orcs knowing.

7 Beastmaster

Beasts are a great threat to all that lurks within Mordor. There are plenty of deadly things that inhabit the lands in Middle-earth: Shadow Of War, but Beastmasters will see them as friends, not foes. Beastmasters have the innate ability to tame all creatures, whilst also remaining unharmed and unnoticed by beasts that they have not yet tamed.

The fact that Beastmasters can summon or wield many beasts makes them a threat greater than one simple Orc. Beastmasters rely heavily on their beast, meaning that if enemy Orcs or even enemy players take them out, they’re pretty much dead.

6 Commander

Being a leader is never a bad thing, and the Commander Orc is great for those in Middle-earth: Shadow Of War who want to further train their armies against Sauron. Commanders will strengthen those that fight alongside them, and the Commander will fully utilize the battle lust that lurks within their loyal Orc troops.

Commanders have specific traits to them that can make them even more deadly, as they are rarely if ever, seen without a large group following them. Commanders have great traits that can increase the strength of their numbers, meaning that enemies will have a hard time getting to the leader.

5 Destroyer

Explosives are the talent of the Destroyer Orcs. After all, it’s in the name of destruction, and what better way to do that than with an array of bombs and mines? Destroyer Orcs are great to recruit, as they will keep enemies off their backs with the constant placement of explosives that will require Orcs and Talion to dodge and weave.

Not only will Destroyers litter the battlefield with explosives, but they will also drop a few bombs to be exploded upon their death. This makes Destroyers a great ally, for even if they fall, they will still manage to take a few enemies out with them.

4 Marksman

There’s nothing more annoying than a sniper, especially when all one is armed with is a sword. Marksman Orcs thrive off of range and will unleash devastating shots onto their target from afar. This can make Marksman a deadly ally, as long as they keep their distance, and take out other Orcs from the safety of a distance too great to chase after.

Only archers can become Marksman, but the incredible damage they can deal with each shot makes them a great ally to use. They can hide behind the armies of other Orcs, and unleash great blows in rapid succession as long as they utilize the best traits in Middle-earth: Shadow Of War.

3 Tank

For a Tank Orc, no wound is too great. They are heavily armored for a reason, meaning they can withstand a great deal of damage without having to worry about their mortality. The fact that tanks can withstand so much damage also means that they can have a second wind before their death. However, death is still an absolute, as Tank Orcs can flee in terror, and if they bleed, they can be killed.

The long-lasting life of a Tank Orc makes them a valuable ally, as they can be targeted by other enemies, or even take on a lesser foe. The tank-like health of a Tank Orc makes them a great ally to Talion, and a great distraction.

2 Trickster

The element of surprise and confusion belongs to the Trickster. This type of Orc specializes in the unexpected and will seek to confuse. Tricksters cannot be predicted so easily, and they will use many methods to ensure their survival above all else.

Their weaponry consists of smoke bombs, decoys, and more to keep themselves at an advantage. However, Trickster Orcs lack any sense of fighting skills, and will usually try and get themselves out of situations, meaning they aren’t exactly beneficial to winning a war.

1 Berserker

berserker in shadow of war

Berserker class Orcs in Middle-earth: Shadow Of War may have an untamed fury that can be both a positive and a negative, but the immense damage they can deal is like no other. Berserkers can become enraged during battle, to which they will see red and attack anyone with a pulse near them.

The damage that Berserkers deal in this enraged state is excellent, providing them with new attacks and lethal attacks. The downside may be that anyone in their path gets destroyed, but having a Berserker ally is far better than lacking one.

Middle-earth: Shadow Of War is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
