At the moment, the ever popular Microsoft Flight Simulator is only available on PC, but that is set to change some time in the near future. Fans have known about an Xbox Series X port for a while now, but news has been somewhat scarce up to now. During the Official Flight Sim SDK Q&A, Microsoft's own Jörg Neumann shared some promising news about the upcoming port.

For those that don't know, Jörg Neumann is the head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, so this is definitely a reliable source. According to him, "The Xbox [Series X] port has been going awesome." He continued on to give fans more details about where this port is in terms of development and also discussed when fans can expect to hear a release date.

Notably, Neumann mentioned that most of the technical aspects of the port are already finished. Instead, he says that "most of the work is on the experience side to make sure everything is really great." This likely means that things are being fine tuned in order to make a product that he and other developers can be proud of.

Interestingly, Neumann also makes a point to say that Microsoft is currently focusing mainly on an Xbox Series X port, and that the game may not be available on Xbox One at first. He doesn't rule this out as a possibility by any means, but it isn't a priority at the moment. In terms of release date, Neumann simply says that his team doesn't talk about release dates until they are getting close to having everything finished. "We are very proud of the quality of the sim, and I hope you appreciate the quality of the sim and we want to keep that. So rushing to market is not what we're doing." That's a sentiment that most would agree with.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available now on PC and later on Xbox Series X.
