Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 took many players by surprise with how engaging its gameplay is. Already, Flight Simulator is one of the top-rated games of the year, with many gaming outlets giving it excellent scores.

Unfortunately, some players are experiencing a frustrating scenario with Microsoft Flight Simulator’s loading screens. Luckily, it seems there is a reliable way for players who are stuck on the ‘Please Wait…’ loading screen to get back to gameplay.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is one hefty game. To put it into perspective, the game is around 150 GBs to download, with most of the installation taking place through the game’s launcher. This actually turned into an issue for Steam players who wanted refund time extended for the game, as the installation process was counted toward playtime.

The game’s assets and environmental renders are impressive, so it’s only natural that the game needs a lot of time to install and load properly. Unfortunately, players are running into a problem where they get stuck on the game’s loading screen and are unable to play.

This isn’t the first issue players have encountered with the game, as evident from the bizarre skyscraper issue in Flight Sim. Thankfully, it seems that some Reddit users have encountered this bug and some reliable solutions to fix the issue. The first thing players can do is try to run the game as administrator, and try to do so multiple times if the first attempt fails. Second, some players think having a controller plugged in can cause this issue, so players should unplug the controller, restart the game’s launcher, and then run as administrator from there.

Finally, if players are specifically stuck on the loading screen that says ‘Please Wait…,’ players should follow these specific steps very carefully. First, delete the game’s packages folder. Then, uninstall the game’s launcher and delete all folders and files under this command: C:\Users\USERNAME\appdata\roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\

After that, search for the game in the computer’s start menu or by pressing the Windows key and searching for it, then run as administrator from there. For those players wondering whether or not this issue can rack up playtime, the answer is yes, but thankfully, Steam won’t count those hours towards refunds with Flight Simulator.

It’s an unfortunate fact that Flight Simulator is simply a massive game to download. Naturally, it will put a ton of strain on both a player's hard drive and internet connection. Not to mention, it will most likely take a very, very long time to download. Still, players who are able to download and play the game will find that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is well worth the wait.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available now on PC, with an Xbox One version in development.
