Flaahgra is a Metroid Prime Remastered boss that players will encounter in the Chozo Ruins' Sunchamber. While this is not the most difficult enemy to overcome, fans will need to do more than hit it with Samus's Beam and Missiles. This may leave some players confused about how they are intended to approach the Flaahgra boss fight in Metroid Prime Remastered, and this guide is here to alleviate that confusion.

Before providing details on how to beat Flaahgra, it is worth mentioning that players should take a moment to scan the boss and its tentacle before they engage in combat. Indeed, there are entries for both Flaahgra and the Flaahgra Tentacle within the Creatures section of the Log Book, and this is the only chance that Metroid fans have to earn them.

Metroid Prime Remastered: How to Beat Flaahgra

After scanning Flaahgra and its tentacle, players should begin to fire Samus Aran's Beam at the boss. Eventually, this assault will cause Flaahgra to become temporarily stunned, and fans should use this reprieve to hit the red button on the back of the mirror that is reflecting sunlight onto the boss. The goal here is to force the mirror to point in an upward direction, and a fully-charged Charge Beam or Missile is the fastest way to make that happen.

Once the mirror has locked into its new position, Flaahgra will collapse and the tentacle that blocked the channel leading to its base will retract. Players must now quickly use Samus's Morph Ball ability, roll through the channel, and place a Morph Ball Bomb next to Flaahgra to deal damage to this Metroid Prime boss.

This pattern of stunning Flaahgra, redirecting mirrors, and using a Morph Ball Bomb in the channel is the core of this boss fight, and players that repeat it three more times will ultimately bring down the enemy. That said, it becomes increasingly difficult to execute the pattern as the battle continues, as the number of mirrors that must be redirected gradually increases. Here are some tips that should help players overcome this increase in difficulty and claim the reward that is beyond Flaahgra:

  • Prioritize keeping Flaahgra stunned, as the boss will flip any redirected mirrors if left active for too long.
  • Try using Missiles to quickly stun Flaahgra.
  • Use Morph Ball to speed up travel between mirrors and to the channel.
  • Make sure to hit the red button on the back of the mirrors with Missiles or a fully-charged Charge Beam.

With respect to the reward that players will receive upon dispatching Flaahgra, it is the Varia Suit. This upgrade protects Samus from extreme heat, and it allows fans to venture into previously-inaccessible areas in Metroid Prime Remastered.

Metroid Prime Remastered is available on the Nintendo Switch.
