A leaker has provided an encouraging update for Metroid Prime 4. The development of Metroid Prime 4 has been kept tightly under wraps with Nintendo only confirming that the game is still planned for its Switch platform.

There have been recent rumors of upcoming Metroid Prime 4 news thanks to the game popping up on Nintendo's online store, however this has apparently happened before with the page being added and removed periodically for unknown reasons. While this might not mean anything in and of itself, it does make it clear that fans are anxious for some news about the upcoming title.

Xbox Era co-founder Nick Baker recently spoke about Metroid Prime 4 and shared some details that he reportedly got from a friend. According to Nick's indirect account, Metroid Prime 4 is "visually unbelievable" and will have massive areas to explore that are much larger than anything ever seen in the series. Fans of the series who have worried about Nintendo's silence on Metroid Prime 4 might find this information exciting, but it is important to note that these claims are unverifiable at this time.

While some might find the lack of official news on Metroid Prime 4 concerning, it can be said that Nintendo being tight-lipped is very much on-brand for the Japanese gaming giant. The company guards information regarding the development of its first party titles and has been known to take legal action against those who have compromised its secrecy in the past, so it could be that whoever has shared this information with Nick Baker is being extra cautious and somewhat vague so as not to attract Nintendo's attention.

Hopefully there will be some official news soon, but for now gamers can only imagine what Metroid Prime 4 will be like. Metroid might not be the most popular franchise in Nintendo's stable, but it has a strong following and a history of critical acclaim. The main series Prime games in particular have not received a Metacritic score under 90 with the original Metroid Prime being regarded as one of the greatest games of all time. Nintendo seems to have every intention of meeting the high expectations set by previous games as evidenced by the fact that it restarted the development of Metroid Prime 4 two years after it was first announced.

Metroid Prime 4 is currently in development for Nintendo Switch.
