According to a new leak, the unannounced Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 2 will consist of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. The Metal Gear Solid series has been dormant for years, but Konami is bringing it back in a big way.

Konami started its Metal Gear Solid comeback tour with two big reveals at the PlayStation showcase event last month. At the show, it was confirmed that original Metal Gear Solid trilogy was being collected together as Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1, and that a full-blown remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 was in development as well. Of course, the use of "Vol. 1" in the title of the collection suggested that Konami was planning to release a second collection, and a new leak may reveal the first details about what that collection will entail.

PS3 exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, PSP game Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain are expected to be part of Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 2, according to a leak through Konami's website. IGN said that it "understands" that the leaked list is "accurate," so it seems Metal Gear Solid fans can look forward to reliving these classic games at some point after Vol. 1 is released on October 24.

  • Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
  • Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
  • Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

If this information is accurate, it's huge for the Metal Gear Solid franchise. After all, Metal Gear Solid 4 has been trapped on the PS3 for well over a decade now, and so being able to play the critically-acclaimed game on modern platforms is going to be a big deal. The demand for a Metal Gear Solid 4 port is significant enough that such a project could likely stand on its own, but it's great for fans that it's apparently going to be bundled together with the beloved Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid 5.

It's possible that the collection could have even more games included as well, but that remains to be seen. Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 1 features two bonus games in the form of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, so maybe the second collection will also have bonus games. Possibilities would include Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, the Metal Gear Acid games, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, or the non-canon Snake's Revenge and Metal Gear: Ghost Babel.

Then again, Konami might want to produce a third collection that could include those spin-off games and perhaps even added Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance to the mix. But before fans start speculating too much about a potential third collection of Metal Gear games, they have the first collection to look forward to on October 24 and it seems a second collection to check out with some heavy hitters hopefully not too long after that.
