Insiders are claiming that new information about Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the upcoming remake of 2004’s classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, could be coming later this week. Konami announced that an updated version of Metal Gear Solid 3 was in the works during a PlayStation State of Play livestream last May with a brief teaser trailer of Naked Snake (aka Big Boss) sneaking through a dark jungle during the Cold War. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is being developed for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S using Unreal Engine 5, but many other details have been kept under wraps.

That includes an exact release date for Metal Solid Delta: Snake Eater. While the game was included in PlayStation’s “Upcoming Games in 2024” trailer at the beginning of the year, later reports suggested that Metal Gear Solid Delta could instead launch in 2025. This was pointed out by reliable gaming news leaker Billbil-kun, who shared reports of a global distribution firm using a placeholder release date of "12/31/2025" for the game’s physical copies.

Kojima Reveals His 'One Regret' About Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

14 years after its release, game auteur Hideo Kojima reveals what he truly regrets about the PSP title, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Fellow Twitter user Kuwabara357 took note of another claim from Billbil-kun, one that suggests that more information about Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater could be coming later this week. To be more specific, Billbil-kun states that this information will be released on June 6, perhaps an official confirmation of Metal Gear Solid Delta’s release date and the start of its pre-order period. Another gaming leaker by the handle of Lunatic Ignus seems to agree with this, telling Kuwabara357 and others to “trust billbil-kun on this one” and keep their eyes peeled over the next few days.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Could Get Update On June 6

Furthermore, Kuwabara357 still thinks that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will still be released in 2024, despite Billbil-kun’s claims that it is being delayed until next year. The same reports that spoke of this delay also hinted that the game will have two different editions, a Standard Edition worth 69.99 USD and a Collector's Edition that would reportedly cost 199.99 USD. Kuwabara357 feels that releasing this information when the game in question won’t be out for over six months is odd, as is Billbil-kun’s mention of pre-orders for Metal Gear Solid Delta going live later this week.

If these rumors are correct, a new Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater update could come on June 6, just a day before this year’s Summer Game Fest. Fans are already eager to replay the first chronological entry in the blockbuster Metal Gear series as rendered with modern hardware, and any new info about Metal Gear Solid Delta (such as a new trailer or official release date) could help make the long wait for Naked Snake’s return from the shadows a little easier.
