In Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of the Patriots, players will eventually need to track down an AK in order to complete a disguise. When paired with the Soldier Uniform Mr. X provides, this will allow Raiden to break into Shell-1 Core and search for Colonel Ames. Retrieving an AK means a spot of backtracking and is also an opportunity to stock up on ammo.

In this Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of the Patriots guide, players will learn where to track down the AK and its ammo while also getting some advice on where the disguise does and does not function. The AK is also a useful weapon should Raiden get into a firefight, though this is naturally a last resort for much of the game.

Dog Tags are a bonus collectible that can be found on enemies throughout Metal Gear Solid 2 and this guide will explain how to get them to drop them.

Where to Find the AKS-74u

To track down this weapon players will need to head back to the Strut-F Warehouse after defeating Fatman and meeting with Mr. X. Now that players have the Level 2 Card Key they are able to open a few more of the Warehouse doors and acquire several new items. To grab the AK, players should head to the lower level and head through either of the doors at the top of the map to get into a new room at the back of the Warehouse.

In the upper-right corner of this room players can find the AKS-74u, the final piece of the puzzle for Raiden's disguise. Pliskin will call at this point to inform Raiden about the flaws with the disguise, namely that it will only work inside Shell Core-1 since guards in the other areas don't carry AKs. Sure enough, Soldiers will see through this disguise pretty quickly if Raiden tries to use it outside that area.

Other Useful Items in the Warehouse

Head for the room on the bottom-left of the Warehouse's upper level, getting past a few guards patrolling the balcony, to find a laser trap. Shoot the control unit on top of the locker on the left to shut it down and players can nab the M4. The M4 is very similar to the AKS-74u but uses different ammo and has no suppressor available, making it an ideal weapon for direct combat if stealth fails. Since it uses different ammo, collecting it effectively gives the player a second option in a firefight if the AK runs out of ammo. It also boasts high accuracy and a laser sight. Players can also enter the room on the upper-right of the upper level to grab some C4, which can be useful for setting traps.
