In Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of the Patriots, players are likely to be a smidge disappointed when Snake's Stealth Camo breaks as he arrives at the Tanker. Fortunately, players are able to unlock the Stealth Camo for use in regular gameplay by being particularly thorough as they play through the game.

Unlocking the Stealth Camo in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of the Patriots requires players to gather a lot of Dog Tags and also requires players to complete the relevant section of the game at least once. This means players will need to be able to finish the game without this powerful item if they hope to add it to their arsenal for future playthroughs, though it will certainly make future playthroughs a lot easier.

How to Unlock the Stealth Camo

To unlock the Stealth Camo for Snake, players will need to shake down guards for their Dog Tags during the Tanker section of the game. Each guard carries a unique Dog Tag and these change on each difficulty setting to encourage replayability (and potentially infuriate completionists.) Players will need to hold up the guard by pointing a weapon at them from behind, then move in front of them and aim for the head or crotch to get them to drop their Dog Tag. Guards who aren't scared can be encouraged to drop their tag by firing a warning shot near them or into one of their limbs. (Best to do this with something other than the tranquilizer gun.)

Players will need to amass 72 Dog Tags during the Tanker section to unlock the Stealth Camo. This is half of the Dog Tags available in the Tanker Section across all difficulties and will require multiple playthroughs of the Tanker section to collect.

How to Unlock the Stealth Camo #2

Unlocking Raiden's Stealth Camo, listed in-game as "Stealth Camo #2," has similar requirements to Snake's Stealth Camo. Players will need to hold up guards and collect their Dog Tags on their way through the Plant section of the game to get hold of the Stealth Camo #2. Luckily, Raiden has access to heavy weapons that can be used to more effectively intimidate guards, potentially allowing him to avoid firing a warning shot when dealing with braver guards.

Raiden will need 121 Dog Tags to unlock the Stealth Camo #2, which is (once again) half of the total Dog Tags that can be found across all difficulties. This means multiple playthroughs will be needed to get enough tags. It's important to note that Snake can be knocked out during certain scenes. Picking up and then dropping his unconscious body after doing so will cause him to drop a Dog Tag that changes based on the difficulty (with him dropping Hideo Kojima's Dog Tag on the highest difficulty.)
