Metal Gear series producer Noriaki Okamura has expressed his desire to work again with franchise creator Hideo Kojima if the opportunity arises. Metal Gear publisher Konami and veteran game director Kojima last worked together on a game in 2015, before their falling-out.

Around the time of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain's release, Konami and Kojima had quite a messy breakup, which culminated in the latter's studio parting ways with the Japanese publisher after years of association. The heat around the situation was so bad that Konami went as far as banning Kojima from appearing at The Game Awards that year. In the time that followed, Kojima Productions went on to operate independently and shipped Death Stranding in 2019. Now that Metal Gear is back on Konami's agenda after a long time, Kojima's name has also unsurprisingly popped up.

Konami Unveils New Details About Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Apart from discussing an unlikely reunion, the Production Hotline episode also shed light on a bunch of features coming in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Creative Producer Yoji Korekado revealed that the remake is set to upgrade the original mainly in two areas: graphics and controls. While the graphics have received a complete overhaul with Unreal Engine 5, the controls have been updated to match the norm in modern-day gaming. Further, he also shared a few glimpses of the revamped Cure System in the Snake Eater remake. In addition, four in-game color filters, which are Normal, Sepia, Retro, and Legacy, have also been confirmed. Among these options, the Legacy filter applies the color palette that was featured in the original 2004 game. These color filters work irrespective of which type of camera angle, Normal or Legacy, the player has opted for.

Even though new information about the Snake Eater remake has been surfacing consistently over the past few weeks, there is still no word on its release date. Despite speculations of a 2024 release initially, a recent rumor has suggested Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater may roll out in 2025 instead. However, the latest flurry of updates may be a sign that questions around the game's release will also be settled rather soon.
