In a Save the Date announcement, Meta confirms the return of its VR showcase—the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase—for June 1. Fans can expect new game announcements for the Meta Quest, a pre-show taking place beforehand, and a developer panel happening afterward.
While VR is considered niche by many, it makes up a solid portion of the gaming industry. The popularity of headsets may vary, but there's no doubt that the Meta Quest 2 is among the very best. As such, it would be a wise idea for Meta Quest 2 owners to mark their calendars with the showcase's date.
The Meta Quest Gaming Showcase takes place on June 1 at 10 am PT/1 pm ET, and it'll be available on Twitch, Facebook, Youtube, and in Meta Horizon Worlds. Described as the "biggest celebration of the depth and breadth of content across the Meta Quest platform yet," the company confirms there will be 40 minutes of content in the main showcase (as hosted by Oculus Studios executive producer Ruth Bram). This includes brand-new VR game announcements, first looks at gameplay for upcoming titles, major updates to current games, and much more during the main event.
Before it kicks off in full, the pre-show will begin at 9:45 am PT/12:45 pm ET. It'll focus on game updates and debut trailers ahead of the proper Showcase, and then there'll be a post-show developer roundtable that discusses some of the upcoming games. Of course, what games, who'll be in attendance, and so on won't be revealed until the Showcase takes place.
The Meta Quest Gaming Showcase is one of many events taking place this summer. It's the primary one focused on VR, though, but after it is Summer Game Fest which kicks off on June 8. The Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct then follow that on June 11. As of right now, many fans expect Sony to host a PlayStation Showcase pretty soon, and Nintendo is likely to host a major Direct showcase too.
Of course, whether those happen in the already packed June or take place near the end of May remains to be seen. If they do happen though, fans can expect an announcement in the coming weeks.
