The Medium developer Bloober Team is in talks to sell the company, a new report has revealed. Bloober Team announced The Medium as an Xbox Series X exclusive at the gameplay reveal event last month, making it one of several high-profile horror games coming to the console.

Documents available on the Polish stock exchange have revealed that Bloober Team, which is publicly listed in the country, has compiled a "shortlist" of companies that could potentially put money into the company. The developer is said to be in second round talks with around dozen companies, with three from the United States, two from Poland, and one from the UK being part of that figure.

A listing on the Financial Times confirms that Bloober Team is worth around $4.8 million. The horror game developer has found huge success with games like Blair Witch, Layers of Fear, and Observer. While its main successes have only come in the last four years, the company has been around since 2010. Its experience and its huge following of horror game fans are likely what have made it a hot prospect to those 12 or so potential buyers.

It's unlikely that any potential games will affect the games that Bloober Team has in development. Other than The Medium, the developer is also developing Observer: System Redux for PS5 and Xbox Series X. That game is set to be released on next-generation consoles in holiday 2020. The holiday 2020 release date of Observer: System Redux and The Medium likely means that development on the games is close to completion and so they will not somehow be delayed.

However, the money from the sale could be incredibly positive for Bloober Team's next games. After announcing the game, Bloober Team revealed that The Medium has a "super secret" Xbox Series X feature that was only possible on a next-generation console. The developer hasn't provided any details about this feature but it suggests that Bloober Team is now thinking bigger for its titles.

Bloober Team and many other game developers are using next-gen tech to do big things with horror games. Money from the sale of the developer could potentially help it to do more of that.
