Medieval Dynasty is a game that wears a lot of hats. It's a fusion of multiple genres: a survival game, a town builder, and a medieval open world RPG. The game has multiple prospective audiences, but also faces some stiff competition.

As expected from most survival games, Medieval Dynasty has a crafting system. And the crafting system can be make or break for a survival game, since new equipment and structures are how the player progresses.

At first glance, Medieval Dynasty's crafting is simple and intuitive but shallow, with seemingly not enough to build. As the player progresses, they unlock Medieval Dynasty's larger tech tree of medieval technology.

Simple Crafting in Medieval Dynasty

It's easy to start crafting in Medieval Dynasty. Players don't need to find a smithing table or any such equipment. All they need to do is hit "Q."

Pressing the Q key opens up a radial crafting menu. The three categories are "crafting", which is where players build basic tools, "building," where players build structures for their settlement, and "other."

This menu can be accessed anywhere, and works exactly like one would expect. The player just needs to scavenge for the neccesary ingredients, and once they have enough they can use them to form an item.

But this will only allow the player to craft the simplest equipment, as listed below:

  • Fire Wood
  • Simple Bag
  • Stone Axe
  • Stone Knife
  • Torch
  • Wooden Hammer
  • Wooden Hoe
  • Wooden Spear

If the player wants to make anything more complex, they need to invest in some buildings.

Advanced Crafting in Medieval Dynasty

If a player wants to build advanced equipment, they need a building specialized in said equipment. If they want to craft metal tools, they need to invest in a smithy. If they want better clothing and armor, they should invest in a sewing building. Those looking for better food should build a tavern.

Thankfully, players don't have to go far to find the building materials. Almost all buildings are just made with some combination of a wooden hammer, logs, sticks, straw, and stones: all resources in abundance. Players also need enough technology points, but they get those automatically by cutting down trees, building, or mining.

One the player has built a crafting building, they can make advanced recipes by taking the ingredients and bringing them to an interaction point, such as the anvil in a smithy. The player character will start building.

Medieval Dynasty is available now for PC.
