This article contains spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

After supposedly wrapping up her storyline in the MCU by destroying all copies of the Darkhold throughout the multiverse, Wanda Maximoff has also seemingly destroyed herself in the process. Last seen in an ancient temple meant to serve as the throne to the Scarlet Witch, Wanda made the decision to collapse the building on herself, leaving the impression that she died in an explosion of her own chaos magic.

Given how often Marvel loves to use the fake death storyline, audiences aren’t convinced this is the last they’ll see of the Scarlet Witch, especially since Elizabeth Olsen has been hinting at what’s next for her character. Doctor Strange 2 practically confirmed that the Scarlet Witch is the most powerful being in all the multiverse, so a big pile of rubble doesn’t quite seem like a fitting end for her. So, fans haven't been asking themselves whether Wanda Maximoff is alive, but rather which MCU project she’ll star in next.

House of Harkness

WandaVision Agatha Harkness Kathryn Hahn

Fans are anticipating Wanda’s return in the upcoming Disney Plus series, House of Harkness, which will star WandaVision antagonist Agatha Harkness. At the end of WandaVision, Agatha offered to teach Wanda about her chaos magic in a moment of desperation, trying to spare herself from being forced to remain in Westview. Agatha was also the only one to have any sort of pre-existing knowledge about the nature of Wanda’s powers, and it seems like Wanda needs that knowledge now more than ever before.

Thanks to the events of Multiverse of Madness, Wanda is entirely on her own in the multiverse, having lost her parents, brother, partner, and children throughout her time in the MCU. As far as fans know, Doctor Strange was the only Avenger to seek Wanda out after she released the people of Westview, implying that Wanda doesn’t even have any friends she can count on, for the time being. A Scarlet Witch return in House of Harkness would not only allow Wanda to find some sort of guidance from Agatha, but perhaps even give her someone else to count on. Wanda could also bring Agatha deeper in the larger MCU storylines, depending on how their relationship transforms.

Additionally, the name House of Harkness is reminiscent of a comic book run titled House of M, in which Scarlet Witch tried to use magic to bring her kids back to life, much like she does in WandaVision and Multiverse of Madness. Given how deeply this storyline has implicated Wanda in both the comics and the MCU, it seems as if House of Harkness will perhaps draw inspiration from the House of M comics, like other preceding projects have.

Doctor Strange 3

Marvel confirmed the return of Doctor Strange during the Multiverse of Madnesspost-credit scene, which likely means he’ll be getting a third movie. Although another Strange-centric solo film is a long way off, having Wanda return to make amends with the sorcerer could give them both formidable allies in each other.

Of course, little is known about this film as yet, and it's hardly a guarantee that Wanda will return. Any speculation about Doctor Strange's next solo film is, at this point, just that: speculation.

Ant-Man 3

The MCU Earth, Earth-616, is far from finished with handling multiversal threats, and it seems as if things are only going to get worse. Jonathan Majors, who made his Marvel debut as He Who Remains in Loki, will play a part in the upcoming Ant-Man 3 film. Majors will be playing Kang the Conqueror, presumably a variant of his character, since the original version fans met in Loki is dead.

Scott Lang seemed fond of Wanda when they met in Captain America: Civil War, and the Scarlet Witch is definitely going to be searching for redemption after the events of Doctor Strange 2. It’ll take a strong force to take down Kang the Conqueror, and even though an Ant-Man and Scarlet Witch team up is a bit unexpected, it could be the perfect opportunity for Wanda to right her wrongs, while also helping Scott defeat his newest foe.

X-Men

Professor X from X-Men

Fans have been waiting for Wanda to interact with the X-Men since the release of WandaVision in 2021. She already met (and killed) the famous Professor X in Multiverse of Madness, but turning her into an ally rather than an enemy in a new X-Men MCU movie would definitely make for an interesting crossover.

The Marvels

Brie Larson Captain Marvel The Marvels

The Captain Marvel sequel will feature a number of other female heroes alongside Carol Danvers, one of whom Wanda already has a connection with. Wanda practically gave Monica Rambeau her new powers in WandaVision, because she was responsible for creating the Hex that transformed Monica.

Monica has a long history with Carol, which appears to have taken a turn for the worse as she’s grown up, and will be back during The Marvels to (hopefully) work things out. Wanda also killed Monica’s mother, Maria, in an alternate universe during Multiverse of Madness, so perhaps she’ll try to atone for that by reaching out to Monica. Either way, given the fact that Monica and Wanda already have a history, Wanda reappearing in The Marvels wouldn’t be too much of a surprise.
