  • MaxSun has launched the RTX 4090 MGG, featuring five cooling fans and a three-slot design, continuing the trend of its MGG lineup.
  • The new GPU from MaxSun has a detachable screen with customizable LEDs and a solid construction, but its price and global availability are still unknown.

MaxSun has launched the RTX 4090 MGG, and it comes with five cooling fans. The Chinese company has added a new SKU to its MGG lineup that includes the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 Ti. The new RTX 4090 MGG retains a three-slot design and a three-fan front. The two additional fans are located at the top of the card at either end. As of now, it is unclear if the new GPU will make its way to the global market.

Back in March, MaxSun announced the first graphics cards to feature five cooling fans under its Mega Gamer (MGG) series. At the time, it released the RTX 4080 MGG and RTX 4070 Ti MGG, both of which came with three 100mm cooling fans along with two smaller fans at the top for additional cooling. Prior to these offerings, the record for the maximum number of cooling fans was held by the triple fan GALAX Serious Gaming series that came with one optional 102mm fan that could be attachable to the backplate.

The MaxSun RTX 4090 MGG OC 24G offers a base clock speed of 2235 MHz and a boost clock speed of 2580 MHz. It has three DisplayPort (v1.4a) ports and one HDMI 2.1 port. The graphics card measures 337x137x66 mm making it a three-slot card which is impressive considering MaxSun managed to fit in two additional fans, albeit smaller ones. The two top-mounted fans are supposed to draw heat away from the GPU assisting the three larger fans. They also feature Zero RPM tech which means the fans will only turn on when needed.

Furthermore, the MaxSun RTX 4090 MGG OC 24G comes with a detachable screen that can be separately powered by USB Type-C. It has an array of LEDs that can be customized to show text or graphics, and it attaches magnetically to the graphics card. The graphics card has a full metal cowl and solid construction.

As for performance, Gamers Nexus tested the MaxSun RTX 4080 MGG and found that there was no actual difference in temperatures using the two additional fans. The tests showed that the temperatures remained pretty much within the margin of error with the additional fans on and off. On top of that, the additional fans added to the noise generated by the card. MaxSun has not tweaked the power targets for its new card as it has the same TDP of 450W as the Founders Edition card.

The new graphics card from MaxSun does not have a price or sale date yet. It has been launched in China and at this point, it is unclear if it will make its way to the global market. The other MGG series cards from MaxSun have not been officially launched outside China but can be purchased off AliExpress. Alternatively, here are some of the other RTX 4090 SKUs available right now.
