The Matrix Resurrections star Keanu Reeves has elevated his star power status to another level this past decade, as his successful John Wick films have now cemented him as one of the greatest action stars in Hollywood. Now, Reeves is looking to expand his filmography in exciting new directions by hoping to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Ahead of the release of The Matrix Resurrections, Reeves opened up about the possibility of playing a role in the MCU. He said that while he is unsure of where he would fit in the ongoing universe, it would no doubt be one enjoyable experience.

"Oh my gosh, I don't know! I actually don't have an answer," Reeves responded when asked where he'd fit in the MCU by Entertainment Tonight. "There's so many wonderful films and filmmakers and artists participating in those films," Reeves shared. "It would be fun to be a part of." Being a part of such classic action franchises like John Wick and The Matrix, it seems a bit surprising that Reeves hasn't already been cast in a Marvel project.

The MCU has dominated the box office and the entire film industry for roughly the past decade, as the cinematic universe continues to produce engaging stories that feel like much more than just a comic book movie. With their new streaming platform on Disney Plus that is behind series like WandaVision, Loki, and Hawkeye in addition to the epic big screen blockbusters like Spider-Man: No Way Home, the MCU has shown no signs of slowing down. Considering the countless Marvel comic book characters, it seems very likely that a star like Reeves will weave his way into the MCU in no time.

While Reeves may not have any background with Marvel, he is no stranger to the superhero genre, as he has starred in Constantine as the titular comic book character who interacts with many of DC's supernatural villains. In fact, Reeves has been pushing for a sequel to that 2005 film to be greenlit, hoping to take on the titular supernatural investigator once more. "I love playing Constantine... John Constantine. I've played a lot of Johns. How many Johns have I played? I don't even know. I think it's over ten," Reeves said. "But anyway, I'd love to have the chance to play Constantine again."

While it may be some time before an announcement is made about Reeves joining the MCU, the actor will be seen (or heard) plenty of times on the big screen in the coming months. His newest film, The Matrix Resurrections, sees him return as Neo in a sequel that takes place 22 years after the events of The Matrix Revolutions. Reeves has also joined the cast of DC's upcoming animated feature, DC League of Super-Pets, which will focus on the animal sidekicks of their super-powered owners that unite to form a crime-fighting team of their own, (Superman's dog: Krypto, Batman's dog: Ace the Bat-Hound, Wonder Woman's kangaroo: Jumpa, and Supergirl's cat: Streaky the Supercat). And of course, Reeves is set to reprise his role as deadly assassin John Wick in John Wick: Chapter 4.

The Matrix Resurrections is now playing in theaters and on HBO Max.
