Video game releases have been a bit of a drip-feed this year, though there have been some highly anticipated games that have made it to store shelves. Among those notable games is Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, a definitive package that bundles together the original three games along with their DLC. The launch has been smooth, but there are still some lingering bugs to be squashed. Luckily, one big one has been addressed.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition owners on Xbox might have noticed a problem while using a wireless headset. It wasn't a small problem, either, as using a wireless headset on Xbox Series X would cause Mass Effect: Legendary Edition's launcher to crash, a frustrating problem that could hamper the experience. However, it should now be solved entirely.

Back in May, EA released an update that solved part of the issue, but it was unable to squash the bug entirely. While players have been able to use a wireless headset for the most part since the first fix, enabling and disabling a headset could still cause the launcher to crash. It seems that this issue is what EA finally got around to fixing, so those looking to immerse themselves with better audio shouldn't have any problems doing so.

The new update contains several other fixes as well, though most of them are minor quality of life improvements. There have been some fixes for issues that blocked Mass Effect: Legendary Edition's achievements from unlocking, though many of the others simply relate to localization bugs. They're good things to have fixed, but not as severe as the launcher problem was.

Shortly after Mass Effect: Legendary Edition launched, reports of the wireless headset began popping up on community forums, like Reddit. Users reported the problem in relatively high volumes, but developer BioWare released a workaround fairly quickly, directing players to disable their headsets until they selected their game. The small patch came just days later, but this full solution should take away a bit of the stress from anyone that was having problems.

General excitement surrounding the Mass Effect franchise is high, as a new Mass Effect game was announced during the Game Awards in December 2020. Fans have heard almost nothing about the new game, besides the brief teaser trailer shown during the reveal. Many are expecting it to appear during EA Play in some form, but it might be a little too early, especially given how the new Dragon Age has been handled thus far.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
