Despite being over a decade old, Mass Effect 2 is still seeing new fan creations regularly, a testament to the game's timeless story. A recent cosplay creation by a dedicated Mass Effect fan encapsulates the talent found in the sci-fi trilogy's fans, recently revitalised by the release of the remastered Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.

The cosplay in question depicts Kasumi Goto, a squadmate in Mass Effect 2 and recurring character should the right choices be made going into Mass Effect 3. The hooded thief's outfit is captured nigh-perfectly, with special note being taken to capture the textures and detail found on her suit in-game. While most of Kasumi's face is hidden in-game, her iconic purple lip makeup is also seen in the outfit, polishing off an all-around highly authentic Kasumi cosplay.

Introduced in Mass Effect 2's Stolen Memory DLC, Kasumi Goto is a master thief and infiltrator that joins the ranks of Commander Shepard's suicide mission after the events of the expansion. In the time she's present in the game, Kasumi establishes her carefree, yet heavily secretive, personality, befitting the unchallenged and aloof master thief with a painful past. Her skills are such that Kasumi is one of the best choices for a key part of Mass Effect 2's climactic mission.

Mass Effect's community has seen somewhat of a revival after the release of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, as well as a teaser trailer for an upcoming Mass Effect title, likely set after the events of Mass Effect 3. The series unfortunately suffered a blow with Mass Effect: Andromeda, which was poorly received compared to the nearly spotless reviews for its predecessors. Hopes for the continuation of the Mass Effect series were hampered by the following cancellation of Mass Effect: Andromeda's prior planned expansions.

However, that didn't stop the fanbase from hoping, and things are looking up for the BioWare classic series. With the aforementioned teaser trailer, Mass Effect's fans are coming to the fore, looking forward to the next installment of the series- while also looking back on how the previous titles can help the next Mass Effect. The rich world-building, memorable characters and notable aesthetic of Mass Effect have put the series in good stead to continue onwards alongside its fans.

Mass Effect's futuristic setting is an ideal playground for cosplayers. This new Kasumi cosplay is testament to creator's skill, but they are not alone- there is a host of astounding Mass Effect cosplays that reflect the diverse nature of the setting, including amazing efforts to depict Mass Effect's assorted alien races. The first Mass Effect title is nearly 14 years old, but the series still captivates audiences around the globe- so much so, that the stories in the setting are a long way from over.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
