  • Insomniac assures more news on Marvel's Wolverine will come at the right time, encouraging fans to remain patient.
  • Speculation swirls around the darker tone and leaked plot details, but there's nothing official yet on the gritty action title.
  • Insomniac remains tight-lipped, leaving fans waiting for more updates on Marvel's Wolverine and other Marvel projects.

Insomniac recently addressed the lack of news surrounding Marvel’s Wolverine, assuring eager gamers that they will hear more about the project when the time is right. Insomniac had already earned much praise from shared fans of gaming and comic books with Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales when it announced Marvel’s Wolverine in 2021. Back then, all that was shown was a brief teaser of Logan sitting alone amid a pile of dead bodies in a dingy bar, hinting at a much grittier take on Marvel’s legendary Canadian mutant than what is typically depicted in video games and other media.

While there has since been plenty of speculation about Marvel’s Wolverine, not much has been officially revealed in the years since the game’s initial announcement. A few months after the teaser was shown, it was confirmed that Spec Ops: The Line scribe Walt D. Williams will be the lead writer for Marvel’s Wolverine, adding credence to the idea that the game will be darker than Insomniac’s past Marvel offerings. However, the biggest source of information about Marvel’s Wolverine was the massive Insomniac data breach in December, which resulted in the game’s characters and voice cast being leaked.

The X-Men's most famous member has a long list of enemies, and Marvel's Wolverine has some good reasons to reach deep into his history.

Of course, none of the information provided in these Marvel’s Wolverine leaks has been officially verified, and players have been patiently waiting for Insomniac to reveal some more legitimate details about the upcoming gritty action title. The developer seems well aware of this, having posted a message on its official Twitter account aimed at fans asking about Wolverine. This message simply assures everyone that information will come “at the right time,” but also notes that “the right time isn’t now.”

Insomniac Tells Fans to be Patient For Marvel’s Wolverine News

Marvel’s Wolverine isn’t the only comic-based title that Insomniac is said to have in the works, as Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 will reportedly launch sometime in 2028 according to the aforementioned data breach. This breach also mentioned another game centered around Venom following his appearance as the main villain of Spider-Man 2, as well as an X-Men title that could very well be set into motion through Marvel’s Wolverine.

It will likely still be a long time before Marvel’s Wolverine launches on the PlayStation 5, especially since Insomniac is remaining so tight-lipped on when fans will next hear of the title. There is still plenty of speculation about when the next PlayStation Showcase livestream could be held, and with it the possibility that history will repeat itself in the form of an official Marvel’s Wolverine update, but that would depend on whether Insomniac is ready to reveal more information.
