The best way to use Deadpool in the upcoming Wolverine game would be to mimic the style of one of Like a Dragon's most beloved characters. Not only would it be a fitting choice, but it could follow up on a dynamic that has proven successful in its series of origin. Even though Wolverine and Like a Dragon do not have a lot in common, at least not from what is known about Wolverine so far, that doesn't make them completely incompatible. In fact, Deadpool may be the perfect character to make a connection of sorts between the two.

Even though the gameplay of Marvel's Wolverine hasn't been revealed properly yet, knowing the character can let fans make some assumptions. Wolverine is considered the toughest member of the X-Men, as well as one of the most popular. His adamantium-coated skeleton and natural healing ability make him one of Marvel's most durable heroes, and his razor-sharp claws compliment his aggressive and violent fighting style. Marvel's Wolverine is more or less destined to be a combat-heavy title in order to work well with the character's strengths. In addition, the likely M-rating ensures a more violent approach than the usual fare from Marvel. It also opens the door for an appearance from Deadpool.

Deadpool Could be Marvel's Wolverine's Version of Goro Majima

Majima outside the convenience store window in Yakuza Kiwami 2

While he may not be the protagonist of the series, Like a Dragon's extraordinarily popular Goro Majima is a character that is so great it's difficult to imagine the series without them. A one-eyed gangster with a wild style and personality, his primary ambition in life is to fight with protagonist Kazuma Kiryu as often as possible. Despite this, he has never been an antagonist in any game past the first, with his interruptions being an annoyance at worst as far as Kiryu is concerned. He has even received campaigns of his own in a couple of titles, with Yakuza 0 being his most prominent and dramatic playable appearance.

Taking some hints from Majima is a perfect excuse for adding a cameo appearance from Deadpool in Marvel's Wolverine. Much like Majima, Deadpool is wild, unpredictable, and frequently hilarious. Deadpool also has his personal twists of having a healing factor about as strong as Wolverine's, as well as his tendency to ignore the fourth wall that has become one of his signature traits. He could easily slide into the role of being the wacky foil for the straight-laced protagonist that Majima has mastered. In addition, Deadpool's entertaining personality and enduring popularity would make him a valuable addition to the game regardless.

Deadpool's tenacity and ability to heal quickly are two of the biggest assets that he would bring to Marvel's Wolverine, making him perfect for replicating Majima's most famous Like a Dragon role, the Majima Everywhere system from Yakuza Kiwami 2. Majima Everywhere saw Majima showing up in various circumstances and costumes for the purpose of fighting Kiryu. It's easy to see Deadpool dropping into the story at random times, simply because he's bored and decides to pass the time by bothering Logan. In addition, because he heals to quickly, he'll always be able to bounce back no matter how badly Wolverine beats him in a fight.

It wouldn't be a surprise for Deadpool to show up in Marvel's Wolverine considering his popularity and more mature-rated style compared to most heroes. While Logan will likely focus on fighting his own villains in Marvel's Wolverine, there should be enough time to fit in a few scraps with Deadpool between these more dramatic battles. Not only would some fights with Deadpool be a good test for players, but they would also provide some opportunities for great banter thanks to their contrasting personalities. Marvel's Wolverine could do well to treat Deadpool like Like a Dragon's Goro Majima.
