Marvel Studios' many television projects for Disney+ includes a series centered on Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany's The Vision. Now, a brand new Disney+ promo reveals the series, titled WandaVision, will debut on the streaming service in late 2020.

During Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, the company announced WandaVision would debut on Disney+ in spring 2021. Production on WandaVision began later that same year and was still underway when the COVID-19 pandemic forced Marvel Studios to temporarily suspend filming on the series in March 2020. Consequently, the original release schedule for Marvel Studios' Disney+ shows had to be readjusted to accommodate the production shutdown of not only WandaVision but The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki as well.

Now, a Disney+ trailer promoting the streaming service's slate for the remainder of 2020 includes WandaVision, though a specific date for the Marvel Studios series was not listed in the preview. The announcement indicates WandaVision will now launch Marvel Studios' line-up of Disney+ series as opposed to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The latter series had originally been scheduled to premiere on the streaming service in August 2020, but its absence in Disney's new promo suggests the delays caused by the pandemic have resulted in its debut being postponed until the following year.

Set after the events of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision takes inspiration from classic sitcoms as it presents Scarlet Witch and Vision living out their ideal life together in the suburbs before they realize their new world is not as it seems. Joining Olsen and Bettany are returning favorites Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis and Randall Park as Jimmy Woo alongside newcomers Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as a "nosy neighbor." Director Matt Shakmen will helm the series from scripts penned by a team of writers led by Jac Shaeffer.

While WandaVision may seem like a fun but a silly project for Marvel Studios, the series could potentially have a notable impact on how the rest of the company's Phase 4 slate unfolds. During the previously mentioned Comic-Con presentation, Marvel Studios' president Kevin Feige revealed that WandaVision would tie directly into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and that Elizabeth Olsen would reprise her role as Scarlet Witch in the sequel.

Of course, all of these plans could be derailed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The crisis had already affected Marvel Studios' release schedule for its feature films on multiple occasions, leaving fans to wonder how plans to tie the Disney+ shows to the movies will be impacted.

WandaVision is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in late 2020.
