Warning: Spoilers ahead for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.Thus far, Insomniac Games has crafted incredible takes on some of the most important Spidey characters with its Marvel’s Spider-Man series. Both of its leading men are deep characters in their own right, and they are surrounded by memorable takes on characters like Harry Osborn, Doc Ock, and Kraven who have appeared time and time again. However, with nearly everything Insomniac touches turning to gold, fans are understandably curious about what its Eddie Brock and Gwen Stacy would look like.

It’s likely that even casual fans of Spider-Man will know who these two characters are, but for anyone in need of a brief refresher, Eddie Brock is one of Peter Parker’s greatest foes and Gwen Stacy is his original love interest. While Brock is the original host for Venom, he has not been needed in Insomniac’s universe thus far since it went in a different direction with its host. Similarly, with Insomniac jumping right to MJ as Peter’s definitive partner, Gwen being left out also makes sense - though there are a few ways that both her and Eddie can eventually get involved.

How Marvel’s Spider-Man Can Still Make Use of Gwen Stacy and Eddie Brock

Future Marvel’s Spider-Man Games Could Feature Gwen and Eddie

When thinking about how these characters could be integrated naturally into the story, a few ideas will likely come to mind for most fans. Considering how Insomniac has taken time to set up its new heroes before giving them powers, it would make sense if Gwen Stacy was one of Silk’s classmates in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 or a Silk spin-off. The post-credits scene could feature Gwen getting her abilities, as even though fans are worried that Insomniac could have too many Spiders to juggle, Peter’s potential retirement would free up some space. Regardless of whether she gets powers of her own, keeping Spider-Gwen’s rock band interest and rebel attitude would be the right move.

Whether Insomniac wants Gwen as a love interest for Miles is tough to determine. While their relationship is popular, and only becoming more well-known thanks to the Spider-Verse films , his relationship with Hailey is going strong. Either way, having the extra option could be interesting.

While Gwen can be smoothly introduced as a teenager that is close with Cindy Moon, Eddie Brock could still be put on the path to become Venom. Though the Symbiote has been mostly eradicated, a piece still likely lives within Harry, just as it did within Peter after he removed it. As Oscorp continues to experiment on Harry with the G-Serum, this Symbiote could be extracted from Harry. Eddie Brock, who could be positioned as an aspiring journalist for the Daily Bugle, could then investigate Oscorp after hearing rumors of shady activities. When he does, he could stumble into the lab where the Symbiote is being analyzed, and it could then attach to him, allowing him to become the classic Venom and lead a spin-off game of his own.

Gwen and Eddie Could Be Used One Day In a Marvel’s Spider-Man Reboot

Still, though there are ways to introduce them, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 already has a lot going on with the return of Doc Ock and the debut of Green Goblin. As such, holding off on Gwen and Eddie for even longer could be the best case scenario for the current story. While the “Final Chapter” of the current saga may be right around the corner, Insomniac could tell a brand-new Spider-Man story in a decade’s time. Perhaps this version of Peter will fall for Gwen, fight Eddie Brock, and so on. Insomniac could even crossover the two universes with its own Spider-Verse-style event if it wants to do so. Regardless of whether it wants to insert them into the ongoing story or hold on to them for an eventual reboot, Insomniac can still work its magic with Gwen and Eddie one day.
