Major Spoilers Ahead for Marvel's Spider-Man 2If recent Spider-Man media has proven anything, it's that multiple versions of the hero can coexist at once and general audiences will still get on board with it. With Into the Spider-Verse popularizing the concept of the multiverse for mainstream crowds, the idea of multiple Spider-People in one project has now become a bit of a staple, with No Way Home, Across the Spider-Verse, and now Marvel's Spider-Man 2 all including at least two spider-powered heroes at the very minimum.

When Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was first announced, one of its biggest selling points was the fact that players would be able to control both Miles Morales and Peter Parker, and while some fans were worried that Insomniac wouldn't be able to balance them quite right, it seems to have done pretty well in the end. Balancing two main characters in a video game is no easy feat, especially when they're both beloved iterations of Spider-Man, but Marvel's Spider-Man 2 did a decent job, with each character having plenty of interwoven relationships and intriguing motivations. But the end of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 promises even bigger things for a potential sequel, and that includes a tease of a possible third playable character.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2's main story is an absolute rollercoaster of high-octane action set-pieces and suitably emotional moments, but when the dust finally settles and players roll those credits, there are a few big teases that still await them. In Marvel's Spider-Man 2's final post-credits scene, Miles Morales' narrative is tied up in a neat little bow, with his love interest Hailey coming round to his family apartment and the two finally admitting their feelings for one another. It's also been established several times during the story that Miles' mom Rio has started a new relationship, and in the game's climactic moments, it's revealed that this man is Albert Moon, who's brought his daughter Cindy along with him to dinner.

For anyone not overly familiar with the more obscure side of Spider-Man comics lore, Spider-Man 2's post-credits scene isn't going to mean too much, but for those fully acquainted with the ever-growing roster of Spider-People, this reveal is pretty huge. Debuting back in 2014, Cindy Moon was on the same field trip that Peter Parker was on the day he was bitten by the radioactive spider. After the spider bit Peter, but just before it died, it also bit Cindy's ankle, giving her the same spider powers. Cindy is then kept in a bunker for seven years in an attempt to hide from the interdimensional Spider-killing vampire Morlun, and when she reemerges into the world she takes on the superhero persona of Silk.

It seems as though Marvel's Spider-Man 2's post-credits scene is heavily teasing the introduction of Silk into Insomniac's Spider-Man universe. Though, much like many facets of this universe, it seems like Silk's backstory will probably undergo quite the change if she does end up playing a major role in a Spider-Man sequel. Though she isn't seen face-on, it seems likely that Cindy Moon will be of a similar age to Miles in this version of the continuity, which probably means that she wasn't bitten at the same time as Peter. In fact, it's not currently known whether Insomniac's Cindy Moon already has her spider powers, or if they'll be given to her on-screen during some kind of Spider-Man 2 DLC or its inevitable sequel.

With Peter Parker seemingly stepping down from his superhero mantle at the end of Marvel's Spider-Man 2's main story, it makes sense that Cindy Moon would fill that gap in a potential Spider-Man 3, and if all heroes stay in the city, then Cindy could even become the series' third playable character. Even if it isn't as a fully playable Spider-Person, it's likely that Cindy Moon will be playable in some form in Spider-Man 3, even if it's just in some MJ-like stealth sequences.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is available now on PS5.
