WARNING: Leaked, hacked details from Insomniac's upcoming games ahead.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has made waves as one of the biggest hits of 2023, and the prospects of its future continue to plague the minds of fans who can't get enough of it. To their excitement, the latest installment's ending and post-credits scenes left more than a ray of hope that the series would continue with new stories, new villains, and new heroes. Still, the franchise's future remained mostly a mystery until a recent ransomware attack against Insomniac Games exposed the acclaimed developer's upcoming releases to the public.

This includes a Venom spin-off potentially titled "Venom: Lethal Protector" that features multiple playable "Spider-heroes." Only speculation is possible at this point, but Marvel's Spider-Man 2's ending and post-credits scenes may have already revealed who those Spider-heroes are. While Miles Morales has been confirmed as Insomniac's new lead Spider-Man, and the alleged title for the spin-off suggests a playable Venom — who very well could be considered a type of Spider-hero — one of Marvel's Spider-Man 2's post-credits scenes hints at one more superhero joining the fight.

Miles Morales and Cindy Moon May Team Up for the Venom Spin-Off

Miles Morales Will Take the Lead with Cindy Moon Potentially in Tow

The end of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 sees an exhausted and conflicted Peter Parker handing over the reins to Miles Morales as he voluntarily agrees to be the city's main Spider-Man for a while. Many fans have suspected this is the end of the road for Peter, especially after narrative director Ben Arfmann and advanced writer Brittney Morris confirmed in an interview with Gizmodo that Miles would be the lead Spider-Man moving forward. However, with the leak hinting at multiple playable heroes in the Venom spin-off game and another Marvel's Spider-Man game scheduled for release down the road, there is plenty of reason to believe Peter isn't out of the picture yet.

While it might have made sense for Insomniac to release a sequel to Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales starring the titular Spider-Man himself, Miles will most likely end up playing a central role in the Venom spin-off title instead, as the leak revealed nothing about another Miles Morales game. Barring that's the case, he will either be teaming up with Venom to fill this aforementioned roster of "Spider-heroes" or another familiar superhero will be joining the fray — specifically, the superhero who appears during the final post-credits scene of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2's last post-credits scene takes place in Miles' apartment, where he and Hailey are seen preparing for a dinner date with Rio and her new boyfriend, Albert Moon. When Albert finally arrives, he introduces his daughter, Cindy. Fans of the Spider-Man comics will know this to be Cindy Moon, also known as Silk, who canonically was bitten by the same radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker. As Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has now left fans of the series with a Silk cliffhanger, it would only make sense for her to fill the role of Miles' new partner in the next installment, which appears to be the Venom spin-off revealed in Insomniac's leak.

Silk's Appearance in the Venom Spin-Off Would Properly Introduce Her Before Spider-Man 3

Aside from the Venom spin-off, another mainline installment of Marvel's Spider-Man series has been leaked, with a release date scheduled for some time in 2028. However, before then, Silk will need a proper introduction that fleshes out her character, skills, and relationships with Miles and Peter. If she was introduced in this way in the Venom spin-off, it would serve as a great foundation for an exciting roster of playable superheroes in what could be Insomniac's last installment in the series, according to the leak.

It would be better for Silk to appear sooner rather than later, making the Venom spin-off her best inroad into the series. Here, her character arc could reach its peak before the last mainline installment releases, thus allowing fans to begin their final journey with a character they've already grown attached to. Then, if Peter happened to rejoin the team, players would potentially get the opportunity to swap between three characters — perhaps four, if Venom remains playable.

More than likely, Cindy Moon and her alter ego Silk will appear in the Venom spin-off Insomniac scheduled for release in 2025. It certainly makes more sense than it doesn't, especially considering her Marvel's Spider-Man 2's post-credits scene and the information leaked during the ransomware attack on Insomniac Games. That being said, it is still all speculation until more is confirmed.
