After years of anticipation, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is here, and it has expanded Insomniac Games' corner of the Marvel universe immensely. New characters have been introduced, new stories have been told, and New York City is better than ever. It has once again cemented the studio as one of the best in the superhero business, so naturally players are looking forward to whatever it does next. And that next step after Marvel's Spider-Man 2 seems pretty clear.

Over the course of three games, Insomniac has built an exciting Spidey-centric universe that many will not soon forget. While the studio could just focus its attention on the inevitable Marvel's Spider-Man 3, it should consider crafting another spin-off adventure akin to Miles Morales instead. The universe holds a lot of potential for new Spidey characters to headline their own game, and in particular, Venom would be the perfect fit for an adventure like that. Even if it takes a while, a Venom-centric game seems like a spectacular continuation.

Venom Deserves His Own Spin-Off Adventure

Marvel's Spider-Man blew everyone away when it first launched back in 2018. Instead of fast-tracking a sequel, the studio chose to take its time by expanding the series in a different way. After the original game introduced Miles Morales, Insomniac Games decided to release a spin-off solely focused on his early days as the titular Spider-Man. It served as a great PS5 launch title while also being a fun title to fill the gap until the hotly anticipated sequel. Plus, it expanded the universe in exciting new ways, which is always great to see.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has now brought Peter Parker and Miles Morales together in one brand-new superhero adventure. Now, players have full control over both characters as they get to see their personal stories collide in a fantastic new experience. Not only does it serve as a great next chapter for this story, but the studio also used it as a way to further delve into the Spidey mythos with the introduction of the alien symbiote Venom. And now that he is here, it is time to further develop Venom into his own character.

Insomniac has been building up the introduction of the Venom symbiote ever since the first Marvel's Spider-Man. It was first teased at the end of that original game where it was bonded to Harry Osborn, it was then further shown off in Miles Morales when Norman Osborn demanded the release of Harry. Now, it has taken center stage as one of the primary antagonists in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and hopefully, this is not the last that players see of the symbiote.

Since Venom has been able to headline his own films and comics, there is seemingly no reason he could not headline his own spin-off adventure too. That adventure could focus on Harry Osborn's time with the symbiote, or it could follow a different character who somehow comes into contact with it. Specifically, it could introduce characters like Eddie Brock into Insomniac's universe to further flesh out how the symbiote works. Additionally, it could introduce villains like Carnage for a whole new type of Spidey experience.

This Venom spin-off could then lead to a three-protagonist system in Marvel's Spider-Man 3, which naturally feels like the next step for the franchise. It would also serve as a great way to bridge the gap during what will likely be a long wait for that next chapter. And it would also let Insomniac further build out its Marvel universe with exciting new ideas and a whole new anti-hero feel. While the studio will likely be focusing on Marvel's Wolverine for the time being, hopefully, the idea for a Venom-centric game has been talked about.
