Highlights

  • Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will feature over 65 different suits, spanning from classic comic designs to original creations, catering to every Spidey fan.
  • The game will also include multiple variations of each suit, bringing the total number of unique Spidey suits to over 200, with different color schemes and references.
  • With 47 suits in the first Marvel's Spider-Man game and 20 suits in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the addition of so many suits in Spider-Man 2 is a highlight that Insomniac has fully embraced.

With over 60 years' worth of comic book, movie, TV show, and video game appearances, it's only natural that Spider-Man has had a few different looks in his lifetime, and every fan has their favorite. Whether it's the Tobey Maguire red and blue suit, the 2099 look, or even Insomniac's own Advanced Suit, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is sure to cater to all Spidey fans when it releases in just a month's time.

While Spider-Man video games have been letting players swap costumes for over two decades now - with even the PS1 Spider-Man game having a few to choose from - Insomniac's first Marvel's Spider-Man really raised the bar, including suits from across the hero's lifetime, from both movies and the comics. Marvel's Spider-Man had more than enough suits for fans to enjoy, but Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is truly going above and beyond with its own selection of Spidey suits.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Features More Suits Than Both Spider-Man and Miles Morales

25th century suit previewed from Spider-Man 2

When players finish Marvel's Spider-Man for the first time, they'll have access to 28 unique Spidey suits right off the bat. The City That Never Sleeps DLC gives players access to nine new Spidey suits, and with a total of 10 suits being added to the game as free updates and as part of the PS5 remaster, Marvel's Spider-Man has a total of 47 suits overall. With it being a much smaller game, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales has just 20 suits for players to choose from, though each one is very distinct.

Though there are definitely some duds in both games, the vast majority of Marvel's Spider-Man and Miles Morales' Spidey suits are excellent, coming from some truly iconic comic runs and movie adaptations for both characters. In total, there have already been 67 suits in Insomniac's Spider-Man universe, and even though a ton of Spidey's most popular suits have already been adapted, that isn't stopping Marvel's Spider-Man 2 from going above and beyond.

The addition of so many extra suits in Spider-Man and Miles Morales was a real highlight of both games, and when looking at Spider-Man 2, it's clear that Insomniac has recognized that, and has chosen to embrace it fully. According to the most recent State of Play trailer, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will have over 65 individual suits, spread across both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. These 65 suits will come from both completely original designs, and from classic comic runs and adaptations, with the fan-favorite Sam Raimi Symbiote suit being shown in the recent trailer.

As if it wasn't enough to have almost as many suits in the game as both Spider-Man and Miles Morales combined, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is also adding multiple variations of each suit, bringing the total amount of unique Spidey suits to over 200. According to the most recent trailer, each suit in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will receive at least one extra color variation, and the vast majority seem to be receiving a total of four extra color schemes, which could in theory bring that total number of suits closer to 250 in the end. From what fans have seen so far, it seems as though these color variations are going to contain a ton of references in and of themselves, with color schemes based on the Prowler seemingly being available for at least one Miles suit, and an Amazing Fantasy black and red variation seemingly being available for Peter's classic suit.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on October 20, exclusively for PS5.
