Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to release this fall, and while the potential of a symbiote suit is exciting, it should not undermine the other cosmetic skins that the game may have. That may be a tall order considering that a narrative-related symbiote suit could have unique gameplay properties, but Insomniac has already shown how creative it can be with its suit selection in Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Thankfully, Spider-Man has a long history with countless suit designs for Insomniac to consider.

Some designs would not even need to be eccentric to have a place in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s costume catalog. Instead, Insomniac should pursue unique designs that are dynamic, such as if there is a living or moving feature to the suit. Many fans want a potential symbiote suit to have writhing tendrils, and this would be no different. There is one skin in particular from comic book source material that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 could adapt, though it would not be for the faint of heart: a Spiders-Man skin based on the Peter Parker who was eaten alive by a colony of radioactive spiders.

Players have a bottomless well of mods to draw from now that both Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales are available on PC. However, fans still find joy in stating which suits they hope will be considered for official cosmetics in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Mods can be incredibly creative and detailed, but they are still not official additions produced by Insomniac for the game, and therefore they still lack that weight of authenticity. Nothing concrete is known about what skins will be included in the sequel, though it is almost guaranteed that fans will have a symbiote suit to look forward to in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, as well as unique skins associated with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Spiders-Man may be a peculiar and horrific design, but that has not stopped Insomniac from considering some unconventional suit ideas before. If Marvel’s Spider-Man was already bold enough to add its Spirit Spider suit, then a Spiders-Man suit should be a noncontroversial piece of cake.

Spiders-Man Would Be a Perfect Skin for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s PS5 Fidelity

Spiders-Man would admittedly not be enjoyable if fans were arachnophobes, but the skin could look spectacular with tiny spiders exposed beneath the classic red-and-blue suit’s fabric. Torn holes in the suit could reveal the humanoid amalgamation of spiders that compose the character’s figure, whether they are stagnant or constantly writhing and crawling in a blur of tiny legs and abdomens.

Having some of these spiders crawl along the body from hole-to-hole would be a reminder that there is no human being beneath the suit, and instead a hive-mind of spiders that believes it is Peter Parker. The best part is that the character would not need to behave or move differently since the spiders still take the shape of a human. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would not need to find a way to integrate Spiders-Man as a suit mod, but if it did, it could potentially have a swarm of spiders part from the body to engulf an enemy.

Marvel’s Spider-Man already used a lot of iconic suits and this would be a great opportunity to dive into some of the character’s obscure and alternate lore from different earths and universes, especially if they have truly unique designs such as Spiders-Man does. If Insomniac truly wanted to terrify its fans, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 could also consider a six-armed doppelganger skin.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to release in 2023 on PS5.
